The Gators listened to Billy and rode the broad back of Patric Young in a 71-54 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks. Patric scored 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead the Gators with 77 value credits. Young's physical presence in the middle enabled the Gators to stop penetration drives and outrebound the Razorbacks by 8. Scottie Wilbekin focused on defense, rebounding and moving the ball. Wilbekin only scored 4 points but had 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and no turnovers to earn 71 value credits. Casey Prather played a whopping 27 minutes scoring 8 points, 9 rebounds with an assist, a block, 3 steals and 3 turnovers to earn 63 value credits. Casey also drew a few charging calls with his quick feet on defense.
The Razorbacks played a scrappy first half but fell to the wayside as the Gators started leveraging their inside game with Patric Young. Once Young drew the zone defense in, it opened outside shooting and penetration buckets for the rest of the Gators. It helped when the referees called fouls against the Hogs instead of allowing the game to devolve into wrestling matches.
Next game is on the road against the Tennessee Volunteers who just won a quadruple overtime game over Texas A&M.
