It's about time. That program has been dirty since Schnellenberger began cheating to try to make the program relevant.

I would expect nothing less from Shalayla. I hope the NCAA comes down twice as hard as they might otherwise have. Arrogance in the face of the NCAA will only make it worse for them, and I think a lot worse.

Exactly, the entire program is built on cheating, this is not a few messups, it's the only way they know.

Shalala's statement is nothing but self serving. She was directly involved in dealings with Shapiro and will no doubt be asked to resign once the evidence is made public. The NCAA doesn't fabricate charges out of thin air as she would have the public believe and this will be bourne out in the documents as the case is resolved. never has a an incident involving lack of institutional control been resolved by skipping a couple bowl games one year at a time once it was clear that the season wasn't going well anyway. I'm guessing a couple more years of bowl bans, severe reduction in annual scholarships and a reduction in the cumulative scholarship cap are still to come and perhaps sanctions against certain coaches will follow as well.

That's it Donna! Dig your heels in! Do your level best to make the NCAA look bad. Hurl some counter accusations at them in the media! That is exactly how I would like for you to act toward....the organization which will determine your penalties.

Well, we can now compare penalties versus administration posturing between UM and PSU. It should be fun, or it will legitimize the notion that the NCAA is capricious and arbitrary.

Newsflash! The NCAA has always been capricious and arbitrary. Funny how some formerly sacred cows like Southern Cal and Penn State only discovered this fact once THEIR oxes got gored. They never managed to notice it when OTHERS were treated in a capricious and arbitrary fashion.
Since we were one of those others and I distinctly remember it, I personally celebrate when other programs get fed into the meatgrinder. Its fun to just sit back and watch and with a big cyber sh*t eating grin on my face ask them how they like THEIR turn in the barrel. We've already had ours.

I have personal knowledge that they decided as a staff to cheat under Schnellenberger.
Their philosophy was literally that they'd rather get fired for cheating than for losing.
Time to stick a fork in em till they're done!!!

Considering the NCAA's history of discipline, nothing is going to happen here to UM. The sanctions they put on USCw, tosu, fsu etc. really amounted to nothing this won't be any different.

I am thinking about the future and not the past. They have been making overtures to have real teeth moving forward. We shall see if these three "storied" programs get fairly even treatment. I am still waiting for a one-year time out on one of them.

This will be the NCAA's last stand before major college powers break free from the NCAA. Whether you like Miami or not, the way that the NCAA has treaed them and handled this case is appalling. Miami is not blameless, but the NCAA has bungled this investigation to an amazing degree. They let it hang over the program for 2 years and hav eacted in a wholy unethical fashion.
"lack of institutional control" is exactly what happend at the NCAA under Emmerick. If Miami is handed any further sanctions, he will lose his job.
