Is it just me. . .
. . . Or is MJ turning 50 the most overplayed story in recent espn history?
Look, I loved watching the guy play ball, but I really could give a rat's ass about his birthday.
Am I alone in this sentiment?

I probably should not respond, because I was away from the telly Wed - Fri. But I feel that the greatness of MJ cannot be overstated, overrated, or overplayed. The fact that he has turned 50 is a reminder of mother time for all of us.

Agree. Can't turn on Sportscenter w/o hearing about it. Even SI has devoted half of the current magazine edition to it, covering the well-known historical ground of Jordan's triumphs over and over. Every media source now has their "50 greatest Jordan moments" which they seem to cover endlessly. Ought to be real treat when he turns 60.

I am with you. Talk about making up the news. I understand a little snippet that mentioned Michael turning 50, but this story of all his accomplishments you would have thought he passed away! Give it a rest.

I think is a bit much. They were playing that 1st game of Bulls vs Portland. What a horrid beatdown- who enjoys watching that seriously? I love MJ, but knowing that he is a sketchy human being makes me cringe when I see the coverage of his birthday.

It's ridiculous. It should get a mention, at most. I almost can't watch sports center anymore. The only time I can *barely* stomach watching it is the second half of the show, you know, the part where the show highlights from the *other* games besides the Yankees.

I can think of a recent ongoing ESPN story that was much more overplayed, but the posters on this board likely will not want to bring it up.
