House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she opposes a cut in congressional pay because it would diminish the dignity of lawmakers' jobs.

"I don't think we should do it; I think we should respect the work we do," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "I think it's necessary for us to have the dignity of the job that we have rewarded."

A good way to cut spending would be to cut Congressional pay proportionately with each new spending bill they pass. IOW Pelosi should have to read her paycheck to find out what's in it.

Great idea!! I'd add that it be further cut based on the number of days they are on "break," and not doing the people's will [to wit, not working]. It should also be cut based on the approval rating of Congress. For instance, if the approval rating is 15%, the check should be cut by 85%
