Leaving Obama Land
Anyone else thinking about joining this little exodus out of the United States?
More people are moving to Florida just for the lower taxes.
But how about REALLY lowering your tax bill?

Well, let's see. The article mentions three places people are moving:
1) Austria: up to 50% income tax on income above $50k + 16% VAT. Enjoy that.
2) Russia: 13% flat income tax.. + 18% VAT. Enjoy that.
3) Singapore: 20% income tax + 7% VAT - and rising.
Three countries where you live in a foreign place and pay about as much (or significantly more) taxes than you do now. Article author is intentionally conflating cap gains with income to make his point look less stupid.
American taxes are low relative to rest of the world and absolutely rock-bottom when compared to services gained and quality of life.

You jeering magpies just take care that you don't drag those flags you've got wrapped around you. Hike them up a bit.

In all my travels I have not found any place I would rather live than the US. They all have their negatives and the US is still the best place to live when all is considered. There are a few places I like to spend a few months every year but I would never give up my citizenship. In the meantime Florida will do just fine.

I would leave the U.S. for the draw of other places, but never flee it, especially not for something like taxes (which is factored into my pay). It is wonderful here, in spite of our weird, hardcore rightwing absurdity. The South is like the handsy drunk Uncle I want to apologize for sometimes, but would defend to the death (well, not the death....). Only, I can make fun of them.
And when a pseudo-intellectual Euro-douche goes all big-pants on me about GWB or some of our philistine caricatures of human beings on the right, it's all too easy to point to their wild swings and shameful recent history.

Yes, San Francisco is picturesque until you meet the weirdo, effete, arrogant, self congratulatory, transgender, anal retentive, leftists who live there and are glad to leave and get back to normal people

A San Franciscan man doesn't need you around anyhow. But, you are always welcome. We aren't nearly as big a fans of war guns here, but you might enjoy the Freudian similarities in phallophilia.

Its the American way to leave. That's how we all go here in the first place. Our ancestors left somewhere else.

Lol. Am glad republicans want to leave. I hope they take their guns with them as well as Sarah Palin and all them racist Tea Party nutcases. Mexicans and other foreigners (Asians etc) are waiting in line to take your places.

this has basically been my experience in San Francisco. I certainly didn't encounter scores of gays dancing about, though that definitely makes for a funnier scene.

Yes, hundreds of thousands of people you know nothing about outside of being affiliated with a political party - but they're all racist nutcase. Great stereotyping.

It's a small city and not a bad walk from the Sunset to the Castro...theoretically, you could see Asians and Gays in the same day!
Or maybe even Gaysians, like wgb said.
Back on point though...I could see myself retiring abroad someday. Ecuador is pretty trendy these days.

San Fran is like that creepy uncle that dresses up in women's clothing and chases around young boys......you don't want to apologize for, but rather try and pretend you don't know......
