That was a somewhat bogus claim. It wasn't that they couldn't find a decent replacement. It was that they decided they wouldn't pay a replacement more than they got from W.Va. for the cancellation which was $500,000. That wasn't enough to entice any decent team. But if they had been willing to pay more they might very well have gotten somebody better than Savannah State.

A decade's worth of recent history says FSU will drop at least one inexplicable conference game.

Add that to the "losable" games on their schedule and I can certainly see why we might expect a mediocre record for them.

I understand they are trying to work a deal to replace Wolford with Pitt for the opening game just FYI

Every season they're going to have a game where they flatout don't show up with him. Also they're breaking in a new QB this year, they'll have some growing pains even against that awful schedule.

I wouldn't be so sure. Even with losses to us and NC State they still ended up #10 in the final Coaches/AP poll last year. Is it any wonder the Dumbo doesn't like playoffs and NC games and instead thinks the coaches should do the rankings each week?

Law, my point is if FSU loses to another unranked, ACC patsie early on like they did with N.C. State last season, they're not going to get a NC shot, period. When they lost to the 'Pack last season their BCSCG dreams were done then and there. There is little reward with such a weak schedule if you lose a game on a weak scehdule.
