FSU starting pitcher out for season
Plagiarized from the Orlando Sentinel (1/31/13):
FSU sophomore right-hand pitcher Mike Compton will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in order to fix a damaged ligament in his right elbow. He was slated to be the No. 2 starter behind fellow sophomore Brandon Leibrandt. Possible replacements: senior Scott Sitz, junior Peter Miller or sophomore Luke Weaver.
Compton had three starts in last year's NCAA tournament, picking up wins against Stony Brook and Samford. He had earned third-team preseason All-America honors from both Louisville Slugger and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
