He broke major rules in college for money..so maybe he is not good at managing money.

This circles back to guidance. Wouldn't it be so tempting as a young man, knowing that you were going to the NFL, not to accept a $1k here & there telling someone you'd pay them back? Now throw in the piece of crap Tank Black who manipulated so many "kids" in college and then the pros. Tank stole millions upon millions from these guys.

I couldn't begin to imagine what he was filling their heads with while these guys were in school. I picture him as the devil sitting on their shoulders saying "Everything will be fine. No one will find out!" and then they are under his control.

Sad situation... One would think the players would know better but at that age & with dollar signs in your eyes, without the proper guidance they fall into that trap game.

His upbringing was rough and I heard it stated that all his male relatives were either dead or in jail.

I agree...how can you go from having so much...to embarrassing yourself and your family?
And what do you do when your credit is ruined and you need to go "other places"?

To your first question: Lack of discipline? Lack of Commonsense? Stupidity? Take your pick. To your second question, you buy what you can afford in cash. If you can afford to pay cash, then don't but it.

UF gives these guys extensive training and warnings about these situations.

The NFL tries to instruct them as well.

Some people will still make bad decisions regardless of how much counsel they receive.

On the other side, some of them try to make a good decisions about agents and financial advisers and are then taken advantage of.

It's the nature of the best, but even by NFL standards he had his share of freakish injuries which shortened his career. One should have never happened in OT against the Giants, but the offense totally imploded. The game never should have gone to OT when he suffered perhaps the worst injury of his career.

I'm sure he could always go into coaching or some type of training and make a living doing that. I believe and hope that he will be fine
