In defense of the poster... he seemed not to be disappointed in the class, but letdown by what he considered an anticlimactic process.

Agree. People should have read the post before responding. I actually was among those who was ready to blast you based on the title, but used better judgement and find that I agree.

Maybe some of you should lower your expectations so as not to be too disappointed. The reality is these are 17 and 18 year old high school kids who being pulled every which way and are making their first real decision. Who knows what they are thinking. Maybe it's the colors of the school, the academics, it's where their parents or family went to school there, it's the coaches of that school, its' playing time....in other words there are a tremendous amount of variables.
For every school that is chosen, there are probably three others who hoped he was choosing their school. I understand it's everyones choice to go with the half empy or half full view but the half empty only leaves one thing and that is disappointment.
Sorry for the rant, I just get a kick out of those who say WM doesn't "close well" or they are disappointed in the class because there were no surprises. Heck, it's the number 1 or 2 class in the country and I'm fine with that and proud of what the coaches have accomplished with this recruiting class!! Go Gators!!

Read what was said. OP is stating its a great class, but it is kind of deflating to know all of the signees prior to NSD. I agree. I am pumped about the class, but it makes NSD a bit of a formality. I'm sure it's that way at most schools though. Only a handful of players that are truly undecided by today.

I don't agree with this thread at all.
To me it is like the people that say that they like close games because they are more exciting. As far as I am concerned we can win them all by 70 thank you very much. I'll be excited with all the points that we score.

No, actually it isn't. Your reading comprehension abilities need work. Of course, if you "DID NOT READ" then I shouldn't expect reading comprehension from you.

Many of us cut our teeth on recruiting in the internet age (I sort of "rededicated" myself to it then), so what we remember is clicking refresh to the page every 30 seconds from dawn until dusk. But the game is changing, to some degree for the worse in that coaches now have to scout a kid and extend him an offer on the basis of his junior film and the spring junior days, meaning more and more late developers will fall through the cracks with all of the early commitments.

Thanks, but it's more fun to overreact and pile on.

Well...you were told you'd get the car in June, got the paperwork in February the following year, and can take it for a spin in August.

Third with 247 as well. I'm good with that.
No issue with the OP, but I anticipated NSD being like this, few surprises, good or bad.
The Bower thing was just bizarre.

This post sums up the reason that outsiders perceive our fan-base as "spoiled" or "too demanding." By a few different accounts, we just signed the number #1 class in the country and someone creates a post about disappointment? Shame on us; the class is stellar and the guys that chose other schools were not that surprising. We lost on a few 50/50 guys, but this was AFTER we had a completely stacked class. We also had a few surprises. Let's be happy!

national signing day is much different these days than in the past. we, as fans, need to amend our approach.
i like the spurrier approach too - be happy and celebratory of those that decided to be part of the gator nation.
also, remember - we're endeavoring to recruit the right way. others aren't always on the level. they can have their short spurt of gratification. we're in it for the long haul. sustainable excellence.

If I said I wasn't let down by what happened TODAY, I would be lying. I was hoping for Bower and especially Clark, who I had said all along I hoped would be in this class, because I thought he was a special player that we waited too late to show some love.
When you add in the fact that some of the experts seemed confident that some of these guys would make it in, it makes the letdown even worse. I KNOW the class is a great one and I am thankful for that, but disappointed somewhat in the day. If people don't like it, well, I don't give a damn.

I am extremely happy that all of our verbal commits signed. Can't remember that happening in a long time.
As fars as surprises go, Bostwick and Reed are great. I just can't stand OSU so only disappointed in Clark, but that lasted for just a few seconds when I went back to ESPN and see we have the #1 class. Very grateful to be a GATOR!

Really..
"Hey son, you can have a new car now, and nothing on Christmas, or MAYBE a new car on Christmas... So what'll it be?"

I feel like it goes without saying that we would have liked to get some of the guys still left on our board today. But when we already have a top class, and youre voicing your dissapointment about today, it comes across the wrong way. Today is the last day of this recruiting cycle and a culmination of a lot of work by our staff, so today would seemingly be the day celebrate such a great class imo.

Again, Ramsey is my only disappointment, but Duke Dawson will help me get over that.
I am fine with not adding our big names on Signing Day.
