Superb class by Muschamp. NSD itself was unexciting, imo.
This thread is not about Muschamp's inability to close. He's a good closer... closed well before signing day. I am quite pleased with the class he has put together. The fact that we didn't lose anybody (and picked up one extra player) is impressive.
However, I can't help but be disappointed - not disappointed in the class, just disappointed in the day. It's like being a kid and instead of getting all of your presents on Christmas day, you receive them in increments throughout the year and then get nothing on Christmas. I think when people complain about our class or Muschamp's inability to close, this is what they are really upset about. Adding to the disappointment was the excitement of getting Bower, only to realize it was a lie, and then losing Clark (to tOSU of all places). Last year was even worse, when we went 0-8 (or whatever it was) on recruits that were considering UF.
I would almost prefer that we have no verbal commitments and then get a deluge of players on NSD. The end result is the same, but it makes for a more exciting finish. Ole Miss fans are probably giddy with delight today (what did they get... like six players?). Muschamp put together an amazing class, but I can't blame those UF fans who are disappointed today. But they should not be disappointed in this class or in Coach Muschamp. He did a great job.

DID NOT READ. You're title summed it up for me.
Anyone who is disappointed about this class knows very little about recruiting...
SMDH... #1 class doesn't do it for you??

Gators' success has nothing to do with fans being excited today with surprise announcements.

Well I think you can sacrifice feeling let down one day of the year, even though there's absolutely no reason in the world why you would be let down by this class, studs from top to bottom.

Haha. I wished we were ranked higher than #1.
You can root against FSU and Georgia today to satisfy that itch.

Normally I agree with this kind of criticism, but had you read his post, I think you would have seen that he wasn't disappointed in the class. He was disappointed in the day. Pretty understandable to me. You get a car on June 3rd and a shirt on Dec 25 or a shirt on June 3 and car on Dec 25. The total haul is the same, but Christmas was clearly better in the second example. No harm in admitting that, in my opinion.

Thanks. Another good analogy. I'm glad someone actually took the time to read my post before jumping down my throat.

But to make it more like recruiting: You HAVE to get a car this year. And at 3 PM on December 25th, all of the cars will be gone.
I would much prefer to have the car in June and not have to worry about what I'm going to do if I get surprised and don't get a car on Christmas.

Part of the problem is people saying we're going to have surprises (positive ones) that get everyone's hopes up and then they don't happen. It's a setup for disappointment even though the class is good.

The problem is, the rush to open the surprise, last minute presents may be a thrilling, emotional high, but the presents themselves may not be as good as the ones you've known about for a while.
Like ours.

You will never be satisfied with NSD. Muschamp doesn't want to wait till the final day to get 7 guys.
