Agreed, Ole Miss is in a pretty big hole talent-wise when compared to Bama and LSU, it will need 2 more classes like this one to catch up.
If Archie had another kid in HS playing QB that would of course help.

To come out of nowhere with a top five class does raise some suspicions. It's not like basketball where you just need to convince one player. Ole Miss has had to pull in player after player - they got five that are in the top ten at their position, two of these are the best at their position. A team would have to have almost a 90% chance of landing each individual player to have a greater than 50% chance of landing all five. I understand there is some family involved, so each signee isn't a completely independent event but still... Things look a little more out of whack when you see they have a roster with more than 100 players.

You guys are being too hard. Oxford is one of the best universities in our small nation. Tunsil, Nkemdiche and company clearly value a good ol' edjumication.

Maybe Freeze is just a really great recruiter and coach? He took that dumpster fire of a football program and turned it around in one year.

The only way they sustain, imo, is if they are able to translate this into consistent on field success.
The Orgeron group that Houston Nutt got a good year or two out of didn't do much for them, except spoiling our undefeated season in 2008.
Freeze will have no excuses though and the expectations will be very high. High expectations in Oxford is a scary proposition for those who work there.

I think we ought to have more evidence than "they're doing better than I thought they would" to declare cheating has to be going on. You know, like maybe evidence of cheating ...
As it is, none of us knows.

Give it time. In a few years, we'll get another Willie Lyles story floating to the surface.

I think that Morgan Freeman called over to Clarksdale, MS and summoned up the Blues Voodoo Gods!
(Check out the Ground Zero Juke Joint in Clarksdale... he is a part owner.)
Mojo?
Money?
Wemin?
Car rims?
Shoes?
Wemin in The Grove?
Mo' money?
Luck?
Look at this way...
If Tunsil was NOT going to Florida... then, the BEST SEC school for him to attend would be: Ole Miss or Miss State.
Tunsil, Nkemdice, Connor, etc could have ALL gone to Alabama, Auburn or Georgia and the rich would have gotten richer.
But by having Tunsil going to Ole Miss is perfect. It strengthens the West Division even more. Alabama might wind up beating Ole Miss 9 outta 10 times but if Ole Miss has got some better athletes... then the Alabama's, LSU's and the Georgia's of the world are going to get beat and... beat up in the process. Auburn may beat Ole Miss but gets dinged up the week before they play us?
5-Star Connor might pick off an Alabama pass and run it back with 20 seconds in the game to come from behind and beat the Gumps... in Tuscaloosa!
Nkemdice might stuff a run or sack an LSU quarterback with a minute to go to win the game.
Who knows?
But all of us need to feel great about Ole Miss becoming stronger in the SEC West.
It does nothing but helps out the Gators!!!!
Ole Miss has been the doormat for waaaay too long. Oxford needs to feel great about something.

Ole Miss has been down for quite a while, but the program that Johnny Vaught built, which included two generations of quarterbacks named Manning, and a strong statewide following, won't stay down forever. While it is true that a recruiting class (in both college and pro football) is best judged two or three years out, great classes tend carry over to following years, especially those of new coaches who are (re-)building programs (see Meyer & Muschamp).

Watched Tunsil play against Navarre HS in the play-offs and came away very unimpressed. So, to me, no big loss.
Part of the problem may have been Navarre's lack of size on the D-line but had good quickness. He seemed to pout after every play because the DE would run around him on most passing situations. After losing, he didn't want to shake hands and made a quick exit to the locker room as the clock wound to zero.
Good luck Ole Miss.

How many dollar signs does it take to spell Mi$$i$$ippi? Nkemdiche I understand. I don't remember Ole Miss even being in it with Tunsil. A top-flight black recruit from Illinois wanting to play ball in Mississippi? Really? In a state that would love to reinstitute segregation? I'm calling BS on them pulling in these players without doing something they aren't supposed to do. Hell, they even went into Alabama and pulled a highly regarded recruit that Bama wanted. Having said that, I'm glad they got recruits to go there instead of Bama, LSU, UGA, etc., but I'm not buying they did it above board.
