Urbs is a sack of lying gimmick speak.
He left our program in a sullied state when he left to "be with his family".
It angers many Gator fans because we are embarrassed at being duped two times. First when Meyer said coaching at UF was the top of his mountain, and again when he tearfully left due to apparent health issues only to immediately join ESPN then take the OSU job.
He's using the exact same bag of stupid tricks he has used everywhere and the truth is we meant nothing to him but a paycheck and status he could exploit.
Sure, with our excellent facilities, stocked recruiting pool, and talent laden team he closed the deal in a big way x 2...thanks, we appreciate it. But really that just makes his failures in his final two years (nearly job abandonment) and lying exit that much more disappointing.
I won't be cheering him ever. Sorry if that upsets his insistent fan base here, but I am not seeing why his apologists don't just don sweater vests and get in line to dot the I in Ohio if they love him so much.
He's not our coach now...he's a direct recruiting rival due to connections being our coach gave him. At least when Spurrier left he didn't lie about his reasons.
Also, better get used to me and others hating on Urbs for the lying douch bag we think he is. I will take pleasure in trashing him anytime I see apologists belching out their love for him like in this thread. Why? Simple, he's not our coach now and left under crap terms as a liar. End of story.

I'm not surprised based on other posts of yours...

That he had a mid life crisis related to a subsequently learned less serious health scare doesn't bother me. That he stuck around a year longer than he wanted because Foley talked him into it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is him recruiting against us because its OSU and he's good at it. But it doesn't bother more than any other coach who's good at their job and at a school I despise...

I feel pretty much the same way about Meyer. I appreciate what he accomplished here, but his time at Florida was up. He moved on. No big deal. Florida will always be an SEC contender, and Meyer leaving only set us back temporarily. That's life.
Ohio State and Michigan have always recruited the state of Florida well. Even with all the connections Meyer has to the Sunshine state, he only signed two players (Bosa and Clark) this year from Florida. Ohio State may do slightly better down there under Meyer than it did under Tressell, but the majority of the top instate players will still sign with us, FSU or Miami. The rest of the SEC is a much bigger threat to the state of Florida, recruiting-wise, than Meyer is.

If Urban didn't have such a low voice, very convincing to a HS athletes, he would remind me of Granny, Lou Holtz. I am in control of everything. You cannot ask me questions, because I am the head coach. Richard Nixon tried this approach, guess it didn't work out so well. I am at odds with him at Ohio St. because they are like North Carolina when it comes to athletes, give em grades, money, tats, cars, cash and then talk about what an academic institution they are. Gordon Gee ring a bell. Also, Maurice Clarett was the latest athlete to get compensated with grades and whatever he wanted, getting Tressel out of the way is not the answer at OSU. They will continue to plow whatever they need to in football. It is a tradition there. So for Urb to go there shows he doesn't care about academics, strictly football and whatever means it takes to get him what he wants. You think the guys on wallstreet are greedy. Urban is part of this coulture, whether he, or his family want to believe it. I can't wait for the next Ohio St. recruiting disaster, athletes in trouble to come out. Someone should write an expose on his coaching career as to the means justify themselves.
I appreciated Urb for working so hard the first three years at Florida, he found out the SEC isn't for the weak. He also didn't like that the SEC headquarters were in Birmingham, Al. He knew that he couldn't continue at Florida at the pace he was going and that no matter what, he would have to face Bama always as an underdog. His ego couldn't take this so he hid behind the health scare and family. So I don't hate him, I kind of feel sorry for his family that his ego has driven him around the country without regards to them, just his ego. He is where he needs to be. Ohio St will continue their ways in regards to their football program. He won't go unscathed!
Wall street and Urban are both driven by ego and ESPN loves him and Saban. Go figure.
