Bama flips 5-star DT A'Shawn Robinson
Does this increase our chances with Reed? Bama can't have that much room left.

Would like to think it increases our chances but we already have four DL and looking at others. Bama has room if they want Reed badly. They are at 22 so probably have at least four spots left. They need another LB or two, an OL, and I would think at least one safety. I guess my question would be, what do their position boards look like? Aside from Reed are there another 4-5 top players at those positions likely to commit? If so, it probably gets tight.
The quality of Bama's 2012 DL class is very high. They took four top 25 DTs and a top 25 DE. Their 2013 class has two top 20 DEs, a top 25 DT, and now the #1 DT. While we have good numbers in our 12'/13' DL classes our quality not as high and he probably can get into the rotation and see the field easier with us. Plus we have his teammate on board. But I'm not sure how our staff is handling Reed and it looks like, for whatever reasons, Bama is his first choice given he visited there the past two weekends.
I'm wondering how much our staff really wants or needs Reed at this point. If we could get Bostwick and Tashawn Bower I believe we'd be better off. Coming out of HS Jarran really wasn't a highly thought of prospect, not nearly as much as Darius Cummings. Compare the two offer lists coming out of HS.

If they take Vanderdoes, we'll get Reed. If V goes somewhere else, there's a good chance Reed's Bama bound. That's what I read anyway.

BTW, this flip was reported on Saturday. Bama says Robinson wants to play OL and that is what they've recruited him for.

Meaning, he'll redshirt next year and be at DT in the spring.
Watching the SB last night reminded me of Anquan Boldin's recruitment. SOS recruited his a WR, AB wanted to play QB. Bowden recruited him at QB and switched him to WR by October his freshman year.

Anquan Boldin requested the transfer to WR at the end of the first week of Fall practice. If SOS had agreed to give him a shot at QB, he would have been a Gator.

If Spurrier had kissed his ass, promised him unicorn rides down rainbow roads, given him the envelope full of cash and footlocker gift cards, as well as the combination to a local booster's sporting memorabilia office safe....maybe he would have come to UF.
I, for one, am glad he didn't. The programs that offer kids projected to be stars the promise to play at different positions rarely works out for the kids. Wish more of them realized what all who follow recruiting more than two or three years know to be fact...it's a sucker play!!
But as Forrest Gump's mama says,"Stupid is as stupid does."

You know, I think the 'Noles signed twelve that year. It was a great class for them quality-wise, but low on bodies. My father told me that that class (due to the lack of numbers) would come back to haunt them.
While there were other factors involved with the demise of FSU, that class had a lot to do with it. It was after that loss to Oklahoma that the 'Noles started to fall apart. So, maybe it was a good thing that Boldin went there, haha.

Is Reed that good? I'd prefer Bostwick and Bower actually.

It also didn;t hurt that FSU boosters visited Boldin the night before NSD and set him up with a brand new SUV and his parents with a new home either. He was in the bag for UF and the next morning, he mailed in his LOI to FSU.
I still remember talking to the 'ole Ball Coach that year at the spring Gator Gathering in Tally about the Boldin recruitment and he all but outright said FSU bought and paid for Boldin.
A lot like what happened with Antonio Cromartie, when the FSU coaches camped out with him at his mother's house the entire night before NSD to make sure he faxed in his LOI to FSU.

Reed is good enough that bama is going to take him if they don't get Vanderdoes.
