How could they, being dead as they were ?

Any other examples? I'm pretty open to comments that I know are joking about being Jewish. I get them alot.
Agreed that we have beaten the horse dead.

FWIW: It was a hypothetical example--I wasn't actually denying the holocaust. I figured that went without saying, but...not so sure, from your reply--so there it is, to dispense with any doubt. (and b/t/w: I too have known actual survivors).

No no. You misunderstand. I am saying that about you.

Preterism is the studied belief that the Second Coming of the Son of God, by every account meant to be the single most transformative event since creation itself, made less of a splash on recorded human history than did Crystal Pepsi.

I don't know. I surmise. Tradition informs that most were dead in advance of 70 AD. And we don't have any writings of theirs after 70 AD.

Most of Jesus' time were unhappy with him. They didn't want a relationship with God. They wanted a relationship with fireworks!

As we know from the tenets of the faith, no relationship - that He was promising - was possible until the resurrection and impartation of the Holy Spirit.
As we know.
Hey, you're like a pig in a mud pie on this thread, aren't you ?

That is just... a pitiful rebuttal. Your nor my glibness don't explain why even truly banal events in history, or even notable but ultimately pretty unimpressive moments of history, are known and documented things, even when the particulars are in dispute, but the second coming has absolutely no documentation or oral history of any kind. It is enough to conclusively dismiss the notion, unless it is double dipping as some Gnostic tripe where it was only made known to the select and privileged few and nobody else got to be told.

Add: by extension (D) turns out that Jesus was banal.

You really need an audit on this one, to get from pre-clear, to clear.

To the stake, heretics !
I mean, who knew ?

This has been an intriguing read and quite indicative of the difficulties in trying to make sense of Scripture when it is literally interpreted. Has Jesus returned? Will Jesus return?
For the one who has taken the words of Jesus to heart and who has had his or her life changed - Jesus has returned. For those who have not experienced this life changing phenomenon perhaps the return of Christ will remain a theoretical event.
Dogmatic dragons distract from the heart of what Jesus meant when he told Nicodemus in the 3rd chapter of John [we] 'must be born again' to see the kingdom of God.
Galatians 2:19 ... For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God.
20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

I just want to re-post my original post now that the thread has a little more going on. The second part is the important part, specifically the bolded:
My very simple answer is that I believe that Jesus will rapture the church and return to the earth in one event that will begin at the sound of the seventh trumpet.
He will then establish the nations in righteousness to prepare for the restoration of God's original design -- God and man dwelling together forever, heaven and earth being one.
To think Jesus has returned because He dwells in our heart or that prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD -- while both are true in themselves -- misses the fullness of the whole story God has written and is fulfilling.
