Kenny Boynton starred as Freddy Krueger in South Carolina's nightmare at Gainesville during a 75-36 loss to the Florida Gators. Boynton scored 15 points along with 3 boards, 7 assists, 4 steals and no turnovers to rack up 103 value credits. Freshman Michael Frazier II came off the bench to score 12 points, pull down 7 rebounds with no turnovers to earn 64 value credits. Patric Young nosed out several Gators for third place, ringing up 53 value credits on the strength of 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
The Gator's suffocating defense harrassed the Gamecocks into numerous turnovers and poor shots from the beginning of the game to the final minutes. Only when Gator freshmen entered the game did they get any open looks and easy points. Meanwhile the Gators built up a 46-point lead while shooting 53% from the field including 57% from 3-point land during their total domination of South Carolina. Michael Rosario alone outscored USCe 12-10 in the first half and the Gamecock's 36 point game total was their lowest on record since entering the SEC in 1992.
The next Gator bait coming to the O'Dome are the Ole Miss Rebels led by SEC bad boy and league scoring leader Marshall Henderson. Gator fans are looking forward to the meeting with perhaps the best team in the SEC West and the individual matchup between Henderson and the Gator's version of the Honey Mohawk Badger, Scottie Wilbekin.
