Niners CB: "Openly GAY Players Would Not Be Welcomed On The Team"
NEW ORLEANS – "San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver has made inflammatory comments regarding homosexuality in football just a few days before Super Bowl XLVII.
Shock jock Artie Lange revealed he had interviewed Culliver at media day Tuesday and aired a segment on his show that night, where the player insisted that any gay players would not be welcome on the team.
"I don't do the gay guys man," said Culliver, whose Niners play the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. "I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do.
"Can't be with that sweet stuff. Nah…can't be…in the locker room man. Nah."
When quizzed by Lange whether any homosexual athletes would need to keep their sexuality a secret in football, Culliver responded: "Yeah, come out 10 years later after that."

Whats wrong with someone believing that being gay is not alright with them and they do not want to associate?

Change "gay" with "black" and maybe it's more apparent

Unsurprising. And with the general culture of the locker room, you won't see an openly gay player in pro sports here any time soon. I know if I was a gay athlete I wouldn't dare come out while I was still playing.

In locker rooms, there actually is a difference. It may be politically incorrect to point out, but there is.

Being Black is an innate thing, a non action. Being Homosexual is not innate, it is an action. It is an action that many find abhorent. i presonally do not care what others do behind their walls, but I do not want the issue being pushed on me my kids or at my workplace.
BTW, comparing Homosexuality to Racism is about as racist as one can be. Not even close.

My point is, every generation ends up going through the process of hating a certain group of people unfortunately. Homophobia is equivalent to racism if you ask me. Now if somebody in a locker room is gay, and they're being inappropriate, obviously that's a bad thing. But an opinion like "oh letting openly gay people into the locker room is wrong, because they'll check us out" is comparable to "freeing blacks and letting them live among our possessions is wrong, because they'll steal everything and lash out at every former slave owner." Just my opinion though

Bigotry to anyone that believes all are equal and everyone is the same in the word. In Utopia that may be the case in the real world I live, there are differences. All we can promise is fairness which is the right thing. Fairness does not mean I have to agree or condone Homosexual or any other behavior I don't agree with, we can disagree without someone like you, resorting to name calling. You don't know what a bigot is, it is not anyone that does not agree with you.
BTW, that is the official government policy, Is BO a Bigot.

I'm not comparing homosexuality to racism. I comparing the hatred and segregation of homosexuals to the hatred and segregation of blacks. Both are completely ridiculous. And just like we look at past generations and think "wow, we were being pretty terrible to black people," the same will probably be said in future generations about how our current/past generations treat homosexuals. I understand your comparison of innate versus learned/acquired/personal choice, but I don't really agree with it. But you're allowed to have your opinion, and that's alright

Could be. I don't' know what's in his heart. People that don't like that lifestyle have rights too. They can voice their opinions as well. We all (still) have that right.

Ask somebody their opinion, and if you don't like it you demand an apology.

Guy didn't have to say that publicly. BTW, never heard of him anyways.

Exactly well said. My nephew is gay and I hope he is happy and people leave him alone and don't pick on him for who he is. But I would also say people get picked on and discriminated on for many things. When I moved from NY to FL in the Mid 70s, I would fight my way to and from the bus stop every day because I was from NY. It made me stronger and it taught me about surviving. I am in the Military, and John Kerry, who will soon be Secretary of State discriminates against the military by claiming we are a bunch of dumbasses who can't make it elsewhere. What is that called, Bigotry, hate, envy, who knows.
