Even at the league minimum salary, he can buy lots of jolly ranchers.

What a pathetic headline grabbing joke of an organization.

I agree first tebow and now russell, instead of getting a real QB they are just signing players for media attention.

He could likely challenge Sanchez right away for buttfumbles.

I believe Russell would be requalified as a rookie for salary, but even if not we're talking $375K -> $500K in salary.
If I'm going to have someone sit on the bench, might as well pay him 25% what I was paying the other guy.
|
It'd be nice if that person was actually playing though.

I don't know that it's ever really ideal to have your backup QB playing. The backup is exactly that; a contingency.
The problem with Tebow (although increasingly less so), is that his skills demand a specific offense, one that does not gel with a Sanchez or a Jamarcus Russell. So either way you have one square peg on the depth chart.

I was never all that impressed with Russell as a college QB, I was surprised that all the draftniks rated him so highly. Whether he's cleaned up his act/head or not, I don't think he has what it takes to be even a decent NFL QB.

He'll fit right in with Rex Ryan then.
