Whoever our backup QB is, he'd better be ready. Driskel has been hurt before so our #2 needs to know his stuff and not just be a hand off kind of QB. Tyler Murphy is a runner first with a questionable arm so how about Mornhinweg?
Isn't Mornhinweg the son of an NFL Coach? He has the Wuerffel throwing motion but is very accurate and can run a bit as well. Wonder how he's doing?
Will Grier is our next great throwing QB but he won't be here until 2014 and freshman signal callers don't do much their first year. Let's hope our OL is up to the task of keeping Jeff healthier than last year. It also would be nice if Jeff learns how to get rid of the ball if nothing's open and he has no where to run either. Sure would be nice!

How do you know Driskel isn't for us? Can't stand statements like this when nobody knows yet. You're talking about a kid in the first year of an offense, new OC, no WRs, and no offensive line. Such an immature statement by the OP to say the least. Then you become excited about another QB, as if the kids gonna come in and take over because Jeff "isn't the man". Must I remind you Jacoby was ranked just as high as Jeff out of HS and couldn't beat out Jeff with the same personnel? It's obvious two very solid QB struggled for reasons and until those reasons are addressed, we won't see much of a change in the offense. However, with this years additions, we should have a better OL, better WRs and routes and a real WRs coach (Joker), and another year for Jeff in the offense. Can't stand when people don't use "football logic".

What a stupid post to make. Saying Driskel has some improvements to make is one thing, flat out saying we need another QB because he is not the man is a joke.

Name one first year starting QB that went 11-1 with as tough of schedule as we had after such a terrible year.

Do you wonder why we only sold 7000 tickets to the Sugar Bowl?
Team goes 11 - 2 and we have this foolishness.
Can you imagine how it will be when Boom wins a championship? When he loses a couple of games you will call for his firing.
SAD!!!!

Gatormoe...
You are correct with your question. There is not another QB in the NCAA that can match up with that statistic.
BUT... why was that record obtained? A lot of other factors went into the equation to give us that 11-1 record.
Great, great defense that also scored points.
Gilly's improved running this year.
Driskel's improvement also. I will grant him that.
But...
Florida's passing attack with Driskel at the helm was 10th in the SEC.
10th!
Don't get me wrong... I would LOVE for Driskel to be an All-American this year and smoke all of his oppnents on the field. I am noit being anti-Driskel.
I do think that an IMPROVED offensive line, better pass blocking... an improved running game (even better than Giilly's)... better receivers (Joker will help tremendously with our established receivers... along with the new talent coming in)...
All of the above will ALL HELP Driskel this year.
I look for 2013 to be Driskel's "coming out party."
I am just saying that having a 11-1 record and placing all of that success on Driskel is not accurate last year.
Sure, he won some games for us with his feet... but our passing was 10th in the SEC. Not even sure what it was with compared to the other 117 teams in the NCAA.

Lets be realistic, this team was 11-2 because we played good defense. We will be missing our best players from last year defense, Floyd, Elam, and Bostic and will need for Driskel and the offense to step up this year or we will struggle to win nine games this season.

I vote for the offense to improve and for UF to win the SEC championship and the BCS national championship. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

I really think that Driskell will improve and be much better in 2013 but I am not sure he will some of the things he does poorly are a real concern locking in on his primary receiver and not going through his progressions, granted he has not always had much time to do that, He holds the ball too long and is hesitant to make tight throws. My point is I can’t say if Driskell is going to be the man or not but I would be a good idea to go after another guy at QB to give us more options, that I am sure of, and I will be pulling for Driskell to get the job done. The receiver group that is coming in with the class should help him out a great deal too. Go Gators

Driskel only looked bad at times because he held onto the ball. Don't forget that our offensive line wasn't good and even then, was unhealthy for much of the year. He ended the year with pretty decent stats including 12-5 td/int ratio (remember he wasn't asked to throw much since our running game was very good) and had 63% completion rating as well as a not too bad passer rating of 133. All that and we still must remember that he is basically a FR starting QB.
Driskel needs to learn to get rid of it and our Oline needs to block A LOT better, but I think he will be fine and anyone implying what the OP is trying to imply, it just trolling and/or related to gatoravatar.

Very unorthodox throwing motion, like the moving around inside the pocket and the ability to run are big plus. Interesting, wonder how he could fair against better corners and safeties?

Seems to be a very fluid runner, he was listed as a WR/QB back in 2010 on Scouting sites. Throwing motion is low and very straight, different.
