It's not. The easiest way to tell is the F is not the same size. In the old font , the F was larger than the rest. Also you can barely make out the Gators on the nose number, which has the old G with the tooth looking thing on the bottom.
Not sure what you are seeing, but the font on the back of that ugly monster...to me...IS without question the new Speed F font. Slanted appearance is highly visible--the "F" is larger than the rest of the letter, although not a huge difference(not much room to work with), and most importantly--why on earth would the new fonts be used on the sides with a semi-interlocking UF and NOT be used on the back? It is definitely the updated font on the side, even though that logo...to my knowledge...has never been done by anyone associated with the university. Interlocking UF--yes, in old font. Interlocking UF in new font--no..not done.
Maybe I am seeing it wrong, but it seems in this case most everyone is seeing it that way. Not to mention most everyone also sees it as butt-ass ugly too.
Looks like the numbers are larger with a smaller orange outline? I'm not a fan simply because it minimizes the orange in the uniform, which sort of makes it look like a bootleg jersey.

Well you have to remember we have now had two generations of the hideous speed font. The old one, which you see here, has the larger F and the drop shadow. The new one, which can be seen in such places as the hoops uniform and the endzones, has no drop shadow and even height letters.
Both are gross IMO, but the new one is an upgrade.

That doesn't mean the font is different. That just means that somebody used small caps.
I can tell you with almost certainty exactly what this helmet is. There was a poster here about a year ago, don't recall his name, who was paying somebody to make these full-scale mock-up helmet designs and posting pictures of them. He was just doing it as a hobby. You can also tell because if it were a real helmet, it would have the cushion with the helmet manufacturer's logo at the edge of the neck where "FLORIDA" is written.
On the jerseys, I CAN believe those could be real, but it's really difficult to see exactly what's different in the numbers font from looking at 1 digit. The only thing I can really tell is that the numbers look a little bigger and wider, which I think is a good change because I think it makes them more legible. And the inside of the bottom "hook" of the #5 does not go straight across and has an angle. That adds a little character.

It is different. University designed an entire different Font, which is the new slanted font you see now. All part of the "new brand" they released last year.

I'm pretty sure the font didn't change and hasn't changed in several years. How they treat the font with the shading has changed and was modified on the football field this year.
There have been various treatments of how they do the shading, but the font, which secgator refers to as the speed font, has remained the same to the best of my knowledge.
The basketball jerseys have used a simple uniform outline in the past, the O'Dome floor was painted with a single offset uniform drop shadow (which is what this mocked up helmet uses, except the white shadow is to the top left instead of the bottom right) and Florida field was painted this year with a double uniform outline, but to the best of my knowledge, the font itself has remained the same.
Here's a photo that shows the difference. You'll notice that as I mentioned, the numbers are a little bigger and bolder, which I think makes them a little more legible. But this mentions the numbers match the new font, which I assume is the speed font, though the numbers don't appear to be slanted.
The only thing I want to change about our uniforms is that I wish we had the current Gator head logo instead of the scripted "Gators". Perhaps, for the traditionalists, we could have a smaller version of the scripted Gators on the back at the base of the helmet.
I stand corrected on the font. jsc28 is correct and the speed font has been modified. It's not a dramatic change but it is different and I think better in terms of not being outdated in the near future. The numerals font on the new football jerseys appear to be the same as the numerals on the new basketball jerseys.
