Braves, Falcons and Dawgs....
Was there a better NL team last year than the Braves?
Anyone who follows baseball knows the answer is no.
Was there a better NFC team this year than the Falcons?
Clearly not.
Was there a team with better players in the SEC last year than Georgia?
You are a fool if you answer yes.
Are there any three teams that were in a better position to win it all when the game was on the line?
So then, what happened?
I was watching Ken Burns "The Dust Bowl" a few weeks back and I learned Woody Guthrie wrote this song ;
Lord my eyes are burning
My clothes are black
My soul is yearnin
My folks are gone
My home destroyed, yeah
Still I thank you Lord
I'm not from Georgia

Call me a fool because I don't believe the dawgs had the best talent.

I'm a Falcons ticket holder and they weren't the best team. Solid, yes. But poor pass rush and inability to run are their flaws.

I'm a huge braves fan and I'm not even sure it is debatable, didn't the nats win the division by 8 or so games, even after shutting done strasburg?
Unfortunately There's a reason they were in position to get screwed by that bs infield fly call in a one game series

As a current Atlanta area resident, I think all 3 statements are off.
The Falcons were a very good team but they had weaknesses all season. Most Falcon fans were not very confident in them even beating Seattle at home. Plus they played a very weak schedule.
The Braves were better than they've been in a few years but were only tied for the 3rd best record in the NL - behind Washington and Cincy and tied with the Giants. I do think they could be VERY good this year, especially now with both Upton's in the outfield.
I'll agree that UGA had about as much talent as anybody in the country, but as long as Richt is there, they will under-achieve. But they also had a very favorable schedule this year. In 2013, they play at Clemson and finally play LSU.

Point being , its been quite awhile since a Georgia team won a championship in anything significant talent or no talent. And that works just fine for me.

Agreed. I don't believe any of the teams he stated were the best.
The only team I like above are the braves but they finished 2nd in the division for a reason.
IMO, the Falcons were the most dominant out if the teams above but I'm afraid the op is wrong in his entire evaluation.

They all suck, and braves can take BJ Upton's lackadaisical a**, and his brothers year slumping swing. The rays will win a World Series before the braves.
Falcons are choke artist....... GO BUCS!
And finally the bulldogs suck. The funniest thing is the bulldogs yes they have beat us 2 times in a row, but to the media an the rest of the football society they're still pretty irrelevant. Who talks about them? No one? Who cares about them in the media? No one. Only their fans care, and they're usually products of a trailer, food stamps, and love between a brother and a sister.

Tell us how you really feel bro...lol
You're dreaming if you think the Rays will win another anytime soon. The Braves are the truth and could very well win it this coming season. The Braves have one of the best hitting coaches who has already increased their averages and numbers since coming aboard. Couple our new lineup with our pitching and bobs your uncle.

Lol! Rays have the best manager and most unconventional period! Rays have added great defense now with Yunel Escobar, James Loney, and Wil Myers, ( who by the way is the #1 prospect ) if you can keep Longoria healthy for a whole season, they easily make the playoffs because everyone in America they have one of if not the best starting pitching staff. I don't hate the braves, don't get me wrong I just really hate Georgia fans, and unfortunately they fall into that category.

If we only win one game next year - please let it be against the Dawgs!

Best manager? C'Mon man....lol
Escobar isn't worth mentioning. We had him and he's the type of player that loves to take plays off. He's not the best player in the locker room and his attitude just plain out sucks.
No question you guys had the best pitching last year. The Braves finished 5th and not to far from you guys. Our batting was better, and will only be that much better this year.
Funny thing is, if you actually compare the two teams, they're pretty similar. The stats are crazy similar.

Yea they really are, and the rays know about yunels problems, but in return they'll send you BJ who also had his problems being lazy on plays, and fighting in the dugout. Lol, everyone talks about the Red Sox and the Yankees, and now the Blue Jays, but the rays know the recipe for winning starts with stellar starting pitching, and bullpen.
Also if people don't think Joe Maddon is one of the best managers right now, of our time their crazy. He has totally changed the culture of Tampa Bay baseball from being a farm system for all other teams, to a team that players from other teams want to be on. Not to mention their finally getting some money, they signed Longoria long term, and David Price will soon follow.

Hmmm.
We kind of missed the point.
Anyway, I agree the Nats were a better club than the Braves based on their record.
I do not agree that the Falcons were second best in the NFC, or even the NFL, except maybe Denver. Everyone had a weaknesses this year.
And the Dawgs. Yes, their talent was as good as anyone. I didn't say they were the best team.

I can assure Brave fans BJ's attitude will improve with Justin around him. He may be the little bro, but he's the motivator. All offseason it's Justin driving the workouts and conditioning.

BJs attitude was great in Tampa. Anyone who doesn't think so pays a bit too much attention to shock jock Tampa radio, or is frankly a closet racist. BJ is one of the best CFers in the game, but has flaws. Taking plays off is not one of them. No player hustles 100% on every single ground ball. It is beyond stupid to single BJ out. He has some offensive limitations. Some serious holes in his swing and he is way too patient. Still one of the top players at his position.
But either way, the Rays will win a WS before the Braves.
RE: to the OP. I disagree but not by much.
The Nats were a better regular season team, but without Stras I do believe the Braves were a better squad. Although I do think the NL was bunched up pretty good and you'd have an argument with any of the top 4 teams.
The Falcons had the best record, but clearly were not the "best" team come playoff time.
UGA I think you have an argument. Talent wise UGA was on par with the Gumps.
But I do get your point and its pointless to nitpick. Georgia teams were elite and extremely competitive on the top tier yet won absolutely nothing.
