Any Position Changes for Spring
Has anyone heard any buzz about potential position changes for the spring. I am sure they are going to look at cross training some safties and cornerbacks but is there any consideration of moving any safties to LB. On offense do you think Tyler Murphy may get a look at receiver if he fails to win the back up quarterback job?

We will need to build depth at DL/DE and LB so it is crucial that we cross train whoever we have on our roster to have the rotation we need for the SEC wars ahead.
I remember Bowden in his best years say he recruited LB's to turn them into DLinemen before their eligibility was over. And since no school's roster is perfect with all the player graduations and leaving early for the big bucks, it is imperitive that we develop our roster as well. Nothing new about this.
Our new LB's and DL's will need time to learn and develop and fit into the defensive scheme and the Dillman boot camp. We're not quite into the reload mentality yet, but by 2014, we should be head to head with the Bamas, LSU's, et al.

I'd personally would like to see Purifoy move to safety. He'd spend less time in coverage and can play to his strength on special teams- making big hits

Cox to MLB?
Showers to slot WR?
Purifoy to WR or FS or a little of both ?
Dunker to NT? 6-5 320 if Garcia and Silberman can play well.
won't happen but just some thoughts.

I think Showers is a lock for the two deep at Safety, but we are NO WHERE at WR and with good reports on Maye & Ledbetter and the ready to play Freshman we have coming in, we sure could use the help at WR.
Dunker is still suspended, but I am pretty sure he will be in the mix for a starting spot at OG.
Cox to MLB, I like a lot. Can't wait to see his size update, but with Powell & McAllister doing well at the Buck, we could use some more depth at MLB.
If Westbrook put in the time at TE, he should stick there. We will have enough bodies on the DLine.

If we have enough depth at Buck with Fowler, McAllister and incoming athletes, it might make sense to look at RoPo as a LB. His freshman season he seemed most comfortable there playing in space. He can run, cover, has ball skills, and that gets more of our best players on the field at the same time. Plus LB is the position group that appears to need the most work on the defensive side of the ball.
Cox to Mike may also make sense if he's played it before and is comfortable there. I'm not sure if he followed in his dad's footsteps growing up.

Do you think he could cover as much of the field as Reggie Nelson did? With RFN back there, it was almost like have 12 defenders.

I can't imagine us moving Powell to Sam unless we go to a 3-4 fulltime. We don't have many ends ready to play, that is the only position he has played under Muschamp, and we already have two starters returning at Sam to begin with.
We've already heard about Riggs and Watkins getting looks at safety. I love the idea of Purifoy and think he would be great there, but the staff thinks he has too much upside at corner. I suspect Purify and Roberson already have the starting spots locked down in the minds of the staff.
I see Burton moving around even more next year, getting lots of time with his hand down the way we used Hines and on the tight end screens we ran for Reed, plus the H-back, slot stuff he played mostly last year.
Don't see many other changes right now unless it is a lineman "moving down" a spot, like Fowler to strongside end, Easley and Bullard to three-technique, Jacobs to one-technique, etc.
One thing I am very interested to hear about is who takes snaps at center. With Robey gone, Koehne is probably first in line, but we need to get someone ready for the spot once Harrison graduates. I've heard Dunker in the past, but not sure who else is up for it.

I think Purifoy would be a beast at safety. With Roberson a lock to start and Vh3 probably starting I think moving Purifoy to safety would be the best thing to do. I can see him being a Brian Dawkins type safety.

I would love to see Powell move to MLB. Same size as Spikes, just faster.

Q Williams will play next year at SSDE, or could grow into a DT, but he will play.

Hargreaves is really, really good, but I don't see him leaping four experienced starters as a true freshman, not to mention a pretty solid redshirt freshman in Poole.

Yeah that's true. I think he will start at some point in the season though but we play a lot of corners so he will see the field a lot if he doesn't start.

Poole will be a SO as he played last year. But Muschamp loves his man coverage, so we will need a healthy rotation at CB & Dime/Nickel packages.
