Duke practice post Miami game......
started at 1 AM as soon as the team arrived on campus from Miami and lasted until 4:45 AM. This according to Sports talkers in North Carolina.

I'll keep that in mind next time Coach K piously intones about the importance of academics for these kids.

This was originally reported first by Dan Patrick I think. Sounds like later it was changed to ending at 4:15am and evidently later changed to the team not having practiced at all. I don't know who to believe. One interesting aspect of this is that the first report (from a guy who isn't lazy when it comes reporting) would be an NCAA violation. I doubt a big one and, at this point, we dont' even know if this is true.

Duke forums say it's true. Regardless....... The interesting thing to me is that Miami U. of Florida is now the clear favorite to win The ACC. North Carolina Jr. was the preseason favorite and they've lost their last 2 games since beating Duke.
Didn't Florida state win the ACC last year? I think they did. So perhaps FSU and Miami U. win the ACC Basketball Championship back to back?
Un damn real.

Especially since Miami started the season losing to Florida Gulf Coast.

I hope the people who defend this phony will finally stop. He sells himself as this omnipotent ambassador of the college game, but he's a little Napoleon and his language is not befitting of the way he represents himself.
I am not by any means saying that foul language means you're a bad person, as I'm sure most college coaches including Billy use it, but the media make this guy out to be a saint.

Kadji is a beast, anyone wanna argue me that Kadji won't be a better pro than Young? And I really like Young this isn't a knock on him. I can see Kenny's game translating to the NBA really well as a stretch 4.

Kadji has more offensive skills. Much closer to Speights in terms of offensive skills than Young will ever be.

Once Ryan Kelly returns, you will see a much different Duke team. Now if Miami beats Duke at Cameron next month at full strength then I will be impressed.

Screw Duke and Coach K...biggest fraud in sports...at least Bobby Knight had the guts to be an a-hole in public. Coach K just does it behind closed doors and then dupes the ESPN hype machine into publicizing him as St. K. I hope we draw them in the tourney and beat them like a drum.

Ironic: they bring in Miami and FSU for football, and they stink it up there while winning in basketball.

Is there a rule about holding practice during those hours, or after a flight? Did they violate any rules adding additional hours?

K denies any over night practice took place.
Now we'll see what Dan Patrick says and where he got his info.
Apparently, it is a violation to practice from midnight to 5AM unless it's voluntary by players and no coach is present.

If I were coach K, I would have done the exact same thing.

definitely. Can you just make them run suicides and stadium steps from midnight to 5am? That's not a practice, just conditioning.
Also if this midnight to 5am rule is true, then isn't midnight madnesss a violation?

Hahaha good question... I remember monster miles and 10 yard dashes. Our coach use to make us run around the track up and down the stands, then the second time around we would jump our way up and down the stands, then the third time we would run backwards up and down the stands, and the fourth time we would switch right to left with our feet and hop up on one leg at a time. Then we would go down to the field and sprint 10 yards, jog back, sprint 20 yards, jog back, sprint 30 yards, jog back, all the way up to the whole football field. For anyone who's a coach on here, this is something good to use for after those games your kids play horribly lol!
