Miles gets another raise...
Quote:
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Les Miles, already one of the highest-paid coaches in college football, is getting a contract extension and raise that will increase his pay by $549,000 a year for two additional seasons, the university said in a news release.
Miles will earn $4.3 million a year and his contract will expire in 2019. His old contract paid him $3.751 million a year and was due to expire in 2017.

I know Coach Muschamp was only extended through 2017 in the not too distant past but it begs the question after such a terrific year, is he in line for a raise too?
According to the USA Today in November 2012:
Quote:
Coach School Annual base pay
Nick Saban Alabama $5.48 million
Mack Brown Texas $5.35 million
Bob Stoops Oklahoma $4.55 million
Urban Meyer Ohio State $4.3 million
Les Miles LSU $3.86 million (passing $4m today...)
Kirk Ferentz Iowa $3.84 million
Charlie Strong Louisville $3.7 million
Steve Spurrier South Carolina $3.59 million
Gary Patterson TCU $3.47 million
Mike Gundy Oklahoma State $3.28 million
|
At $2.8m a year, is Muschamp now slightly underpaid? Just thinking out loud...

Boom was starting from scratch so it is quite low by comparison. I was going to say I was shocked that Strong is paid that much more than Boom but he let that game get away silencing all comment on that pay differential. And we have yet to develop an offense under Will and you can't pay a guy top dollar for an incomplete team.
I hope the big jump comes after next year.

He will get a raise soon. By soon I mean after next season or maybe the year after if things stay on pace.
I am sure Muschamp is enjoying making at least 2 million a year over what he has made his entire life.

This is encouraging. I'm going to totally stink up my job and then ask for a raise.

Most deserving = Nick Saban
Least Deserving = Mack Brown

Exactly... how to hell is Mack Brown pulling down all that coin?
Getting his arse kicked in a depleted Big 12?
He must have pictures of Dodds with UT's prize heifer... or the bull.

Main criteria...
number of overall wins, conference championships, and most importantly national championships.
1.Number of wins and direction your program is headed... Saban without doubt (3 out of the last 4 national championships and team considered a dynasty)
2.Texas has gone nowhere since that 1 national championship a long time ago with Vick Young. Even recruiting is not up to par like it use to be and other schools in Texas are getting the players Texas use to get. Mack Brown would not even be on my radar if I was looking for a new head coach.

Did I write that? Wasn't thinking very well. Miles, the subject of the freakin thread, is the definition of a coach with an incomplete team.

If Boom wants a raise its pretty simple- win something- the NC, the SEC, heck even a division title- until then he's unproven-- hell Charlie Weiss looked pretty good at ND for 2 years and Ron Zook took the Illini to a Rose Bowl.

Muschamp is trying to match or overcome the Spurrier and Meyer successes and will always have a strong defense, but also realizes that a consistent offense only enhances his defense.
We lost the Jawga game with our pathetic TO's and no play makers and were in too many dog fights all season with hardly any passing game. It was a combination of a new QB, poor OL and no go to receivers other than a tweener TE.
I was in Birmingham in '92 and saw that great Bama team beat us 28-21 in the SEC Championship Game with their great "D". We scared them with our balanced offense, but it wasn't enough to beat them. Spurrier never seemed to put enough emphasis on defense as he thought his "O" was too good to stop. He finally learned that defense with his current team, USCe, can win without all the passing stats he had at UF. Of course players like Clowney can teach any pass happy coach this lesson.
Muschamp might be the opposite, and needs to build a complete offense to reach the SEC and NC type games. We should see major improvement this year with our OL, WR, and RB additions and depth.

They should have given Miles a gold stop watch instead. Maybe he could manage a game then.

I'm sure Boom will be in the 3.5 range next time he and Foley discuss his contract. If he wins a title, then more like 4.

Do you expect people to take you seriously when you compare Muschamp to Zook?
