Crawford is the exception there, obviously, as he was a top 10 recruit that people were saying might go pro that year if I remember correctly, but that was 9 years ago so and I've been in a haze for many of the years in between
Agree with you, though, on the concept of the one and done. IMO, getting 1-2 guys per year that are 1 and dones mixed with solid guys to develop is the way to go. There are exceptions, like UK's class last year and the one coming in next year, but to do things the way Cal does it means you better be sure you get the right type of kids in there, as evidenced by this year's selfishness from a few guys.
Ideally guys like Wiltjer and Terrance Jones stay 2 or 3 years and they give you some experience.
Nothing wrong with going after the absolute cream of the crop every year. I think most coaches do a disservice to their schools if they don't at least try.
