Can this team go undefeated in the SEC?
Obviously, it is very early in the season. But with a down SEC, and a UF team that just looks like they are in a different league compared to the rest of the SEC, you wonder if we might not have a shot.
My guess is no, but I can see this team going through with only 2 SEC loses.
This team Is good.

I'm sort of conditioned to expect that slump we always seem to run into at some point, but this is a veteran team, so maybe we'll avoid it. They play great defense, which helps avoid losing when the team goes cold. I'm hoping for the best possible record, but I don't want to predict a number. If this team keeps playing this way, we have a very good shot at a number 1 seed.

Yes. I thought about this after the tamu game. Regardless, as long as we spank cal and his kittens and send them to bed without any supper, I'm good.
My gut tells me if we lose, its to who we always lose to. U f'n T. Eventhough they suck.

As far as I'm concerned we have the best team in the SEC and it really isn't close. Now there are several possible losses left on the schedule. But at this point, I really don't see any excuse for losing more than 3 games between now and the SEC tourney. We have an experienced and mature team and the rest of the SEC just doesn't look very good.

This thread reminds me of how there were posters after the FSU blowout saying how we could go undefeated in OOC play. Could we? Sure. Will we? Probably not. I think we'll drop one or two that we shouldn't.

Has UNC or Duke ever gone undefeated in the ACC? If someone could do that in the ACC, then I would say yes, it's possible for us to do it in the SEC, especially this year.

KenPom currently gives it more than a 30% chance of Florida going undefeated in the SEC!

Our turnovers will hurt us a game or two against an opponent that is hot shooting the ball. What struck me today was that, for all our problems turning the ball over, we were so good defensively that Mizzou couldn't take advantage of it. We gouged them on their turnovers, though, at one point early in the second half being +18 on turnovers. If we face a team that shoots the lights out, they might able to get some easy scores off us,

Granted, I haven't been following bball more than 10+ years but this is one of the best defensive teams I've ever seen. D ft'd

I really couldn't care less whether or not we go undefeated in SEC play. That's the beauty of college hoops: one loss doesn't kill your season.
This team is good enough to go to the final four. That's really all I care about. The defense-particularly in transition-is the best I've seen since we won it all. I love watching our defenders harass ball handlers on the perimeter. When you watch Boynton, Wilbekin, Rosario, and our people up front defend, they are always active, always looking for ways to disrupt the flow of the opposition, always sticking a hand in there to knock the ball away. Opposing teams have to work to get every shot off.
I do miss Beal's ability to penetrate, but Murphy has taken his game to a whole new level. He used to be a one-trick pony, simply spotting up to knock it down from outside, but you could see his game evolve toward the end of last season. Rosario has also provided a spark, and a healthy Casey Prather makes this team capable of beating anybody. This is the year, gentlemen.

we play like we played today, we're capable of almost anything imaginable. fulfill all your hoops fantasies and then some!
but everytime i allow myself to fantasize...and get ahead of ourselves, 'i' get slammed back to reality. humbled. beaten. case in point was the sugar bowl. no, i need to take this season one game at a time. adhere to that cliche.
thing to do, though, is look at the season as a series of goals. right now, it's about the SEC. we can win the regular season title - that's a big goal, since they are a rare feat. going thru unscathed is just something that's pure bragging rights gravy and nothing else, really.
then there's the SEC tourney. and this is really just about ncaa prep work imo. title is nice, but the next step of the season IS what matters when it is all said and done. but collect some hardware on the way is always good, since you don't really know for sure what the future holds.
then, there's the ncaa's which is a series of 2-game weekend tourneys itself. one goal at a time.

You might want to write this prediction down or save it somewhere.
WE WILL GO UNDEFEATED IN THE SEC...if we win every game.
Go Gators!!!

Turnovers aren't good, but one way to minimize the damage they can do is to get back in transition and play good D. This team is so quick to get back, runs the court extremely well and, again, is always swatting a ball loose somehow. The way our guards play defense reminds me of when I watched those two (Robinson and Chalmers) from Kansas the year after we won back-to-back titles. It's just amazing to watch. I enjoy watching us play defense more than I do watching us score points.
We challenge everything. Donovan will work on the turnovers. But when you play as sloppy as we did offensively, and still freight train your way to a 30-point blowout over a top-20 team, you've got serious talent. And I don't think we've even been completely healthy yet this year. Nobody wants to deal with this Gator basketball team.

It's not SEC football. There is not the urgency or necessity to go undefeated. Once they've clinched the conference championship or even gotten close, they're likely to dose off from time to time and who cares? Save themselves for the tournaments.

My guess is 16-2. I really want a sweep of UK. Toughest games will probably be at Auburn 2/16 (after the UK home game), at Mizzou three days later, at UT 2/26, and at UK 3/9. Since it's UK's senior day and they actually have TWO seniors on the team , it's gonna be a big game for them.
