Pay assistants more is the only way
Look how much Michigan is paying their coordinators! And bamer at least on defense
Quinn just doubled his salary

4 years would be a blessing I can't even imagine.

2 years with no turnover at either OC or DC would be good enough for me.

We seem to have a reputation that we are easy to poach from. Going back to the Spurrier days our HCs have seemingly encouraged assistants to look for something better.

Foley needs to crack open that check book and reward these guys a little quicker. Everyone wants to feel appreciated.

Nearly all of the recent coordinators left for an NFL job, or one that would be considered a promotion in title. If we were losing these coaches to equal or lesser jobs, then that would be a huge concern. Unfortunately for us, it seems like the turnover is the cost of having talented coaches. You also have to factor in that we had a recent head coaching change contribute to the turnover as well.

I wonder if Coach Muschamp knew this was going to happen eventually and that's why he groomed Coach Young into the DL coach. I don't know if that's what is going to happen but maybe that was a sign that this was inevitable anyways.

College football is just the warm-up league for the "Bigs", for both players and coaches in the most part anymore. It's not like talented kids - or coaches - are necessarily attracted to any particular program because of the University itself, loyalty to it, or love for it; it is merely a business opportunity to advance their careers.

There may be occasional exceptions. I am hoping Coach Champ is one of them, and by all measures so far, he is.

So, for the players, wherever they go they are still going to have to play and develop, and no particular coach - who may be here, there, or anywhere and gone tomorrow - can get them a ticket to the Bigs. They will still have to earn that, be coached up, and learn and refine the kinds of techniques that will help them play in the Bigs. I think the SEC "brand" and the "Gator" brand (sickening to say that) are as big as anyone else's, and they pretty much know with the quality of coaches we have on staff, they can learn and refine their skills here just as good as anywhere else.

That is just the way it is.

If money is the problem, money needs to be thrown at it. It's simple math. The longer you can get assistants to stay, the less inexperience you're going to be dealing with year to year to year. Big difference between losing an assistant or two every year and losing half the staff. It's getting old. There's been a dry rot in the works ever since Meyer's second championship. Nothing is as good as it once was, in the stands, on the field, or anywhere else, for that matter. It's like Applegate collected on a deal after the Oklahoma game.

Why not go get his feet wet somewhere else while he's waiting. It's not like either of those schools would snub him when there's an opening.

We haven't lost any coach we wanted to keep that didn't get a promotion. We have a great program and have great coaches and that's why we get poached. It's a compliment. Kirby Smart knows when he is going to be the 'bama coach or go to uga, so they pay him to stay. Money had never been an issue as to why we have had coaches leave...never.

Corch Meyer will suffer the same fate at OSU. These are not lateral moves. And the fact that Kirby Smart is still at Alabama suggests he will replace Saban in a few years.Chill.

The problem is that the last two guys to leave had only been here 1 and 2 years respectively, you can't reward that or you might end up in the kind of situation ND was in with our last OC-- if the initial performance is an outlier you end up paying the guy years after you've fired him.

Quinn might've been in line for a raise after this upcoming year if he reloaded and maintained the same high level of performance.

Holy Cow, here we go again. We go through this jibberish for what? Coach's work to move up that ladder, and hopefully one day become a head Coach. Maybe to his dream job. We lose coach's, like everyone else. If you don't believe that, your living in a dream world. Programs are looking for good coach's, at good programs. Look at Brian Kelly at Notre Dame. He started at Grand Valley, then Central Michigan, then Cinncinati, then a dream job at Notre Dame. Not all coach's are a Mickey Andrews, but you all do know Andrews coached the Gators. Great coach, but had the personality of a can of Stewed Tomatos. Some of you sound like you don't work, or never have. Also, we've had coach's who didn't accept other job offers. They don't always leave.

Just chill, players are resilient. They pick up things quickly, and our issue's the last few years has been with talent. QB, WR, OL but BOOM is working on the upgrades.

Florida attained a level of success that should have been more sustainable despite change than it has been. We should be able to reload, not struggle year to year to stay above .500 as if we were some Big East also-ran who caught lightning in a bottle. Personally, I suspect that not enough money is being applied to the equation.

We had two bad seasons: 8-5 (well above ".500") and 7-6. I wouldn't say we are struggling to stay above .500. Coaching changes happen. We lost 2 last year and 2 this year (WR coach Hill, just before the start of the season being the other...I wouldn't count Hamden as "losing a coach").

However, I do agree that money may be a small issue. But the trend in paying assistant coaches "big money" only recently started happening a few years ago (about the time Kiffen went to Tennessee and paid his dad $1million/year to be DC and Saban to Bama, paying his assistants big money). One of the reasons Bielema left Wisconsin is because he was tired of losing assistant coaches (because Wisonsin wouldn't pay the salaries he requested). When Jimbo was hired to replace baby Bowden as OC at FSU he was given a big raise over what Jeff Bowden made ($105,000....and he was the coaches son!). Now most position coaches are making upwards of $200K (or more) at the bigger schools.
