The Gators will open their dual match season on Saturday against Miami. The match will be contested at home, and commence at noon. Spencer Newman has re-enrolled at the University of Florida, after a semester at the University of Michigan. Spencer will be eligible to compete for the Gators once again in January of 2014.

gonna try to get up to g'ville early enough to catch some of the action before heading over to the o'dome. wished the UAA would space these events out a bit more so we could catch multiple events on the weekend!

i caught the doubles live before the basketball game.
i was impressed by our play. i think every doubles team is new - a new pair at least, right?

Federhofer and Gordon Watson dominated at #2. ran out to a 7-0 lead. they looked sharp.
#1 alford and diep struggled some but pretty much cruised to a win.
#3 was tied at 3-3 and then the gator duo of piro and johnson rattled off 4-straight.

everyone was blasting serves. strong return games. nifty at the net.

saw we dropped #4 & #6 singles to win 5-2.

Bob VO did not play doubles or singles, not sure if he is healty or just letting others get some PT

Nice win today, and it was obvious to all in attendance that Coach Shelton favors an aggressive style of doubles play. Bob Van Overbeek sat out today's match but will be available next week against UCF on Wednesday and in the ITA Kickoff Classic Saturday and Sunday.

with the new doubles scoring, the doubles play will be quick. no ad scoring. that probably does favor an aggressive go for broke type style.

No ad scoring in doubles is only until conference schedules begin. NCAA is trying to compile data on no ad scoring to see if it quickens over all time of a match. Right now the NCAA theme for tennis is making it more fan friendly. So expect changes like the no ad to be tried.

i liked the action the other day - just caught the doubles. fans were into it. great action. fun!
