That win is looking better and better. They beat Indiana last night. That will really help out our RPI!

If we win at TAMU and then vs. Mizzou, I'd be pretty shocked if we stay behind them. But you are right. It seems our wins don't mean as much as the blue blood's wins and our losses seem to drop us farther than the blue bloods.

Because in basketball they think the SEC is garbage even though the SEC consistently makes it to the final 4, sweet 16, or championship game... They say the conference is weak, but I got 4-5 teams right now in out conference that will compete with any of the top 5...

4-5 teams in the SEC that can compete with Indiana, Duke, Louisville, etc.? Not this year.

That's 11 in a row by Wisky over the Hoosiers. What a choke by Indiana. There are no really great teams out there.

I think Wisconsin has really improved since we played them. They really didn't seem to have an identity when we played them. They have some bigs who can really stroke it and that Bergeron kid is a stud.

Wisconsin has moved into the top 50 in the RPI. And in my opinion, the biggest difference for them is Jackson is stepping it up at PG, which if you remember, Gasser would have been the starter if he didn't get injured this past summer.

There are only three that fit that bill; UF, Missouri and UK (due to their talent).
Ole Miss is a rung below those teams as is TAMU. Then, there are the rest.

I was utterly unimpressed with Wisconsin when we played them. They just didn't seem to have anything. They didn't seem capable of doing anything. No athleticism, no defense, no shooting. They looked bland and blah.
So kudos to them for pulling it together and improving.

The beginning of their league schedule could only help. They play alot of teams in the Big 10 that fit the description above. There's a reason they all flame out in the NCAA tourney.

Does anyone know if they were at full strength when we played them? I know they lost their starting PG before the season started, but as far as I knew he would miss the whole season. If they are working with the same roster they had when they played us, that win will really boost us with the selection committee. I know the committee takes injuries into account when assigning value to wins/losses. Bo Ryan deserves credit here. His teams are hard to watch but it was hard to imagine Wisc turning it around this quickly because they had some bad losses (including ours) early in the season.

It's possible that their big loss to us gave them a baseline on where they were and what they had to do to get better. Credit to them for cleaning things up.

When the Gators played Wisconsin, Wilbekin was suspended and Prather was recovering from those concussions.
So basically, it was a 6-man team, with Murphy fortunately recovered from a hip pointer enough to shoot 10-10 from the field.
Frazier played 19 minutes as the 6th man in that game.
So, although Wisky has likely improved, if the Gators can ever get healthy, that was far from the best team the Gators could field either. If I recall their coach's statement after the game, the following paraphrase was roughly what he said: "We were slower, less quick and less agile than they were."

Wisconsin has some good young players. I thought they were a year away but kudos to them for stepping up.

UW played very well last night and beat a very good team on their home floor. Congrats to them.
UF is still the nightmare match-up for them. The balance on Gator "O" spreads the floor in a way that they don't like. They are much better when only a few guys on the floor are scoring threats.

Definitely --- Jackson has suddenly taken charge, which is exactly what UW needed with Gasser out. Most expected the other young guard (Marshall) would be the guy, but hey, either way works!
Bo Ryan just continues to impress year after year - I don't know how many times 'experts' are going to predict a down year, only to watch Ryan miraculously have them in the upper tier of the Big10 and comfortably in the tourney. He's just an incredibly good coach. Granted I didn't expect a win last night, but I had little doubt UW would end up a solid resume win for UF when all is said & done. Beating Indiana for the 11th straight time & a signature win is just about perfect!
