I have Firefox, and under Internet Options I have it enabled to block popups. That's not Adblock? Is Adblock something you have to download? I Googled it, but got info on Adblock Plus. Things are happening too fast for me.
So Chrome is a browser like Firefox? I have Firefox and IE. Can you have too many browsers on your computer? If I download this Chrome thing too, am I asking for trouble?

Either Chrome or Firefox is fine.
Adblock and Adblock Plus are essentially the same product. Download them. When there are problems with this site (malware, slowdowns, etc.) 99.999999% of the time it's remnant ad servers. Kill the ads and this site flies.

Thanks for the link for FF.
I had some trouble with this site a few days ago, and still have trouble with a lot of other sites, and one thing they seem to have in common is third-party ads that take their sweet time to download, during which time the browser is simply frozen. A program that blocks all ads sounds like manna from heaven.

This site (and many others) is almost unusable without it.
Also to ad to earlier points.... most tablets and phones with recent versions of Android are compatible with the mobile versions of chrome and firefox....though you'd be best to just use the app.

Like I said, it's not my computer. This happens on my sister's and my niece's computers too. It's a site problem, not my computer.

I know Gray. I was just messin with you. Figured you would get the FF and Chrome suggestions in the process.
The suggestions of using Adblock are spot on. Ima FF user myself and never have any issues with this site, and rarely get any pop-ups from others sites either.

There are more than 3,000 reviews for it and it has a 5 star average rating.

Thanks. I use an invisible counter (StatCounter) on some webpages. Do you or anyone know if Adblock will block the counter, as if it were an ad on the page?

You use it on what pages? Your own personal pages?
It's unlikely it would block it, and it's also unlikely StatCounter has any practical purpose.

It's on both personal and business pages, and it has the practical purpose of telling me which pages are being visited and how often.

I am retired and 76 years old, and have an old Gateway that the Indians kicked Columbus in the butt for bringing over here.
If i were running a business i would have thrown this thing out the first day. But, i use it for the Gators, ESPN, to print info, and a few other things.
I never know when it will die, then bring me back to where i was (usually). Most times i have to do a restore when i log on. These are some of the things it will do.
So, as far as i know i have never had a problem with the forum.

Well those trackers are massively flawed at measuring it. I'm surprised they still exist. But I doubt they'd be blocked by Adblock. If they were you can always whitelist them.

You definitely shouldn't be using an old style counter to monitor page traffic. Whoever you use for web hosting should have a free traffic stats access that's much more accurate, professional and has significantly more details.

Half the time it does nothing. Just sits where it is with no reaction.
