As National Signing Day 2013 nears, what's left for the Gators?
Florida's sensational 2013 class is almost full, but a pass rusher is still on Will Muschamp's wish list. Will Elijah Daniel or Chris Jones fill that spot? Who else is in the Gators' sights?

Florida football recruiting: As National Signing Day 2013 nears, what's left for the Gators?
By Andy Hutchins on Jan 14, 1:14p
It's silly to start a Florida football recruiting article any other way than this: Will Muschamp is building one of the best recruiting classes of the year, and one of the best recruiting classes in Florida history. Muschamp and his staff are filling needs, stockpiling talent, and creating a foundation that can help Florida win SEC and national titles.
Florida's 2013 class is ranked No. 1 at ESPN — which, given the media blitz the Worldwide Leader puts together on National Signing Day, is the most important recruiting service list to top — and No. 1 at Rivals, No. 3 at 247Sports, No. 6 at Scout (which also has Alabama No. 8), and No. 3 in the 247Composite ranking that averages rankings across the recruiting industry
You may have noticed that this class is somewhat thin at defensive tackle (especially with the losses of Sharrif Floyd and Omar Hunter) and at cornerback (despite Hargreaves' quality making up for it), and that it is heavy on projects at defensive end. Good news: Florida is aware of that, and pursuing several more prospects on the defensive line to make a fantastic class even better: DT Montravious Adams, DT Jaynard Bostwick, DE Elijah Daniel, DE Chris Jones, and DT Jarran Reed.
Of those prospects, the ones most likely to join Florida's class are Reed and Daniel. Reed, an Ole Miss commit, just took his official visit to Florida this past weekend, and he enjoyed it. A lot, apparently.

Good article. Thanks for posting. Kind of a basic update of what's left...which seems to be plenty!!!

That's about what I was assuming. Hoping Clark comes on board as well.

I think the icing is already on the cake. All that's left is to put the icing on the icing, you know, the pretty flower, the contrasting colored icing around the rim. It's going to be one hell of a cake.

We seem to be forgetting Tashawn Bower. I understand that we have Daniel, Jones and Nkemdiche ahead of him, but he's a serious, big-time player in his own right. And he's visiting this week. FSU, LSU, and Auburn are pursuing him, as well.

I've pretty much come around to the idea that we could really use another cornerback. We only signed two last year, and one of them (Bailey) has already bolted. Watkins is graduating after next year, and there's a non-zero chance we lose both Roberson and Purifoy to early entry. I don't know if one corner is really enough in this class.

Bower is a solid DE who is great at tackling and stuffing the run. However, he lacks the pass rushing skills/instincts we are looking for (for immediate help in that department). The guys you mentioned above can immediately help because they, especially Daniel, do have the pass rushing expertise needed.
I am not saying Bower can't be taught how to rush the passer. But we would rather have someone can contribute immediately in that department and not be a project.

So, what's the latest with Denson? His name is about to become a really big deal.
Is there any room left for one of the top offensive linemen in the state of Florida?

Considering that the Gators signed 5 DEs in last year's class, admittedly, none a really "rush" DE, but how many of those type are there anywhere anyway, I really don't see much of a shortage.
It would be nice to add Swanson (FB) for sure, and one quality DT. I don't really see the logic in adding another CC transfer at DT, but who can understand the workings of a coaches' mind.

Although, from what I've read, Reed has 3 full years of eligibility left, so he's not your typical JUCO transfer.

We made good use of joyer this year buit do we really neewd two scholarship blocking backs on the roster? Couldn't we move a LB to that spot in a pinch?

I am confused to why you think having two fullbacks out of 85 players is a bad thing

We need to have 2 fullbacks for depth purposes and its never good to have a young back who looks lost in an offense. We shouldnt have to recruit another fullback for a couple years.
