I am thinking it is reversed here.
CHRIS is being unduly punished in proportion for this incident.

Amazing how much love we throw on strangers , excepting that they can give us thrills for feats and winning games, and then, ceremoniously throw them into the dumpster, washing our hands of them , claiming piety because..hey it happened before..

Ask any posters on here how many traffic tickets they've gotten. It does not require a crime or even immaturity to call the cops on someone. Your neighbor right now could call the cops on you claiming you were being belligerent and loud, they would come out and interrogate you, everyone in the neighborhood would assume you are some bad individual, and GC posters like you would be on here telling you how "immature" you are. Meanwhile, you've done nothing wrong. See my point?

You miss the part where this is Chris' third run in with the law this year?

I have no idea what happened in this instance however I have personal knowledge of how some of GPD operates. I know of one case where the GPD charged someone with 3 serious felonies that, upon conviction, could have resulted in life in prison only to have it all reduced to a single misdemeanor charge of trespassing which the person was not even guilty of but pled to in order to get his life back. GPD overcharges as a matter of course. Local law enforcement, specifically GPD, has had problems other than wrongful arrests that frayed relations with residents. Highly publicized incidents in recent years — such as the police shooting of University of Florida student Corey Rice, in 2001, and an egg-throwing incident by police in low-income neighborhoods in 2008 — caused distrust in the community.

No i don't see your point. Regardless if Chris did everything stated or nothing at all, he still shows a lack of maturity and judgement when it comes to these situations. This isn't the first time. Also, if you read my response, no where did I say he shouldn't or couldn't have a girlfriend. I simply stated that you can tell when a girl is going to be a hot mess. Drama isn't something that just follows us, we put ourselves in it. Chris has a history of being immature so this incident doesn't shock me or many others; surprised it does you.

Also, once again, your examples aren't relevant. Comparing somebody getting a traffic ticket to somebody continuing to have Run-ins with the law is insane; not to mention the doctor reference. Chris allows drama and gets himself into these messes. It's nothing compared to what you are trying to compare it to.

Its the other chapters in the book that lead many to this conclusion. If this was his only bad chapter ot would be different.

Maybe a few of the louder posters on here should start a recruiting thread warning all the athletes from less than stellar backgrounds that, yes, we are aware that they have troubled pasts, and once our corrupt GPD lays down a bogus felony charge on you, we will tear into you just like you're Charles Manson. At least once your eligibility is used up.

I'd say most police are brave, honorable men, and a very small percentage are bullying pricks. But like everything in the world, the negative is always brought to forefront of attention.

If you've been arrested 3 or 4 times, even over the course of your entire life, there's a very good chance that you're the problem, not the police.

The only one trying to be loud right now is you. You're the only one here that doesn't get what's being said. I'm not saying Chis is guilty here, I'm just saying he continues to put himself in types of situations. The fact that Chris, or any player, comes from a tough background is irrelevant. Eventually you have to start taking responsibility for yourself and leave the past in the past.

I don't have any knowledge of the GPD but this is not uncommon.

In Winter Haven Baxter Troutman grandson of Ben Hill Griffin, former state legislator, and successful business man was arrested on domestic violence charges. His crime? He allegedly threw a bedspread, a charge he denies, at his wife.

Interesting stuff. I wouldn't know where to start, so I'm wondering if you know what the numbers are for other cities with a population of about 125,000 (Gainesville's per 2010 census).

Good for you. Typically seeing Gainesville police doesn't make me feel safer, usually just the opposite.

Unfortunately I have had experience with gainesville's finest and the term "over protective" isn't the one I would use in describing them. Have no info on the Rainey case however.

Depends on how you define over protective..... I would rather they just do what they are legally supposed to do, and use some common sense/good judgement in the process. Seems like we are finding it harder and harder to get good civil servants these days.
