Kid just needs development is all. He's got enormous physical skills. Personally, I don;t think Grier is going to have it too easy when Driskel is leaving with Staver there in the wings. Those two ought to have a really good battle for the starting spot.

And all Leak did as a true freshmen was take that Zoom Dumpster into Death Valley and knock off LSU, Arkansas and Georgia all on the road. Hell, does anyone remember his performance in the Swindle as a freshman?
Kid constantly catches a raw deal, everyone mentions him sliding on third downs, no one mentions him running for sixty against Bama in the Swamp in '06 on a third and short QB draw.
Rex did nothing here but play star wars in Spur-Dogs fun machine and destroy an over-matched Maryland team. No one ever remembers his time under Zook and consistently attribute Chris' '06 to Timmy. SMDH

People won't admit it but Brantley was recruited to back up Cam Newton. That's the cold hard truth. Nobody would go to Florida knowing they would be sitting behind Tebow and Newton, except for an Ocala boy.

LOL at people actually dissing Leak on this board. We win the championship, THIS past year, with a sophmore Leak. Driskel can't even be mentioned in the same breath as Leak right now.

At times it seems like Leak is the most underrated (or even underappreciated) championship QB ever

Well, if that's the case the plan backfired. Newton looked mostly awful when he was here. And Brantley looked stellar in relief duty.

The second list were highly ranked studs.....with Tim Tebow being the outlier, and I would say Leak was only because he won the national title (but probably under performed overall) The rest in the second list didn't live up to expectation or were outright flops....

Excellent post Gulf Sail - you should perhaps have added Kerwin Bell, who, after all, was a walk-on who led the Gators very well.
Staver apparently fits what the coaches want in a QB and they feel he is highly underrated.
Ratings do have some use, but nothing is "certain."
For example, if you have a kid in the top 25 overall, they have about a 70-90% chance of contributing substantially during their first 3 years.
A kid between 26 and 75 has about a 40-70% chance.
A kid between 76 and say 150 has about a 25%-40% chance.
A kid beyond 150 has perhaps a 0-25% chance.
However, a large number of kids in the 150-300 group are going to contribute significantly, however, this is a large group (as many as the 1-150 - so recruiting efficacy is dependent on the insights of the recruiting staff.
You either trust the coaches or not. It appears that Muschamp and crew may be pretty good at this.

I've seen max staver play in person granted he was playing a high school powerhouse ranked in the top 25 in the nation I wasn't really impressed with him he didn't really stand out he definitely has a strong arm though and with a lot of time and work he can become good considering his size and speed.

You better bet the house that Will Grier will be the starter

Very true although my point, or at least what I meant to say, was he wasn't fit to be under Meyer no matter the system.

When a player commits to UF, they automatically drop in the rivals rankings. I'm not sure of the exact formula they use, but I believe it is this: Rivals ranking 6.0, committ to UF minus 2.0, new Rivals ranking = unranked.
