I was sad to see Kenny leave. I thought he had a lot of potential, with some bad breaks with injuries and such.
I'm glad that he has been able to prosper somewhere else. I also wonder how good we would have been the last two years (if he had Redshirted one year here) with him on our front line, with Patric and Murph and Yeguette.

I too was unhappy to see him leave. Kadji redshirted in 2009-10 after injuring his back. He left because UF had bigs Macklin, Tyus, Murphy and Young ahead of him. Young was a frosh who was clearly going to get minutes and Yeguete was also a frosh competing for minutes at the 4. Plus Parsons was a very big 3 who potentially could play the 3.
So for a year UF had too many bigs. Now I have seen many reasons offered for him leaving, but certainly depth at the 4/5 was certainly a contributing factor. My wish was that he go JUCO for a year, graduate and then come back to UF for his last two years. Unfortunately he elected to go to Miami and somehow was given a hardship year. So it worked out for him.

I think you are under-selling Appleby's play at UW. From their website:

Three-year letterwinner ... Ranks No. 1 among UW marksmen with 231 career three-point field goals ... Third on the school list for three-point percentage (.413) ... Owns three of the top five single-season three-point performances ... Set a school record with nine three-pointers at Oregon State ... Made six 3-pointers in a game on five occasions ... Of his 288 career collegiate field goals, 231 came from 3-point range (80 percent) ... Transferred to UW after one season at the University of Florida

Appleby was horrendous at UF but was played primarily at pg. at UDub he was played mainly as a 2 and was a great shooter. Give him and uw credit for recognizing his strengths.
Also clearly he was not a miss by the coaching staff in terms of skills. I think tge redshirt year helped him greatly.

I am not positive, but I think that for almost all transfers, the forced redshirt year is a benefit.
I also really used to like it when in football, almost all new freshman were redshirted, or, even better, back in the OLD DAYS, when Freshman weren't allowed to play (because they weren't really mature enough either mentally or physically to compete with Sophs, Juniors or Seniors. You may recall (or, perhaps you are too young), that Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who was Lew Alcindor, played 3 years at UCLA, because in those days Frosh didn't play.
THIS WAS A VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD THING.
Today, everyone wants the "Quick Fix," and it is not good in any way, shape or form, despite what Cali seems to seek.
And yes, a lot of Gators have transferred out and been successful elsewhere. I think this speaks to Billy D's ability to judge basketball prospects.

To me another great story of the year is Allen Adam playing and almost scoring 10 points a game for Rollins.

Note also that Kyle McClanahan is Rollins leading scorer.
As for Appleby, I think he made the right decision to transfer with Humphrey developing better and he was a solid contributor at UWash.

He was somewhat like Humphrey with the good spot-up 3-point shooting (although he seemed less consistent and more prone to occasional hot games including the one with the record nine 3-pointers) and with the mediocre ballhandling/passing skills.
He differed from Humphrey in not being a pretty good defender.
The local sports radio guys and fans didn't seem to give him a lot of respect except when he had the occasional hot shooting game.
No big loss in my book - after initially being excited that he might show up with Pete Maravich-like ball handling/passing skills based on an early article about him that came out before he ever played for us

I also saw a number of UW games and am glad Appleby transferred. Besides, he was happier back home.
