I enjoy how all the jags haters gloss over the fact that Tim chose the Jets over the Jags. But I guess being a hater is easier than taking off O&B glasses.
"But after Khan took over last year and the Denver Broncos quietly started shopping Tebow, Khan told Smith to look into acquiring the left-hander.
The Jaguars increased their offer several times. By the end of negotiations, Jacksonville had offered a fourth-round pick and agreed to pay $3 million of the $5 million in advance salary the Broncos had already paid Tebow. The money the Jaguars offered was better than the little more than $2.5 million the Jets agreed to pay, and the draft pick was nine spots higher than New York's fourth-round selection.
But it never really got down to the details.
The Broncos told the Jaguars they were allowing Tebow to choose between the teams, and the Jaguars believe Tebow picked the Jets because he felt he would have a better chance to compete for the quarterback job with Mark Sanchez than Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne."

Tebow made his choice, it didn't work out, and the jags moved on.

But we don't know what the "details" we're. I saw that mentioned in 2 morning news articles.
Tebow may not have liked the "details" that the Jags offered.
But regardless, Tim's not going back home regardless if Jaguars would have liked it or not. Regardless if it would have given the Jacksonville home base a necessary boost in ticket sales, team merchandise sales, Jaguar fan enthusiasm.
Again, NFL fans are to remain loyal. It doesn't matter if the franchise is not loyal to them.

Repped and read your last post, Ray. Amazing, did not know the details involved with that stadium being built. I think more than anything it shows how the times are changing. Our society values the dollar bill above all, and brainwashes us to feel somehow bad if we don't support something that is not even remotely close to mediocrity.

Did you mean to say the new GM's smirk because there was no coach at the meeting?
It was new GM Caldwell, Owner Kahn, and President of operations present.

I'm sure I don't know all the details, but I do remember reading that Tebow felt like the Jets wanted him more than the Jags did. And also that Kahn wanted him more than the GM and coaches did.

You're a fact based guy Dream. We do know the jags offered more money and a higher draft pick. That tells me they wanted him more. Anything else was jets lip service.

You got me dead to rights. I do like facts. So, was all that stuff about Tebow thinking the Jets wanted him more just made up ?

Last year, the jags won four games. This year, the Jags won two games, yet they talk like they are the Patriots and have no need for a box office smash.
Rearranging the deck chairs on the Jax titanic, wont' do much to change that sinking team.
You can hate on Tim but Jax has been awful for a very long time. Sticking to that path, isn't on us.

No, it's probably true, if we're discussing their pitch to get him to come there. But based on how they used him they either A) Lied or B) he was so bad they couldn't play him.
If you were deciding between two jobs and one offered more moneys a better incentive package, but the other just told you they wanted you more, what would you do?

I would expect the league to fine (at least) the Jags for tampering. Common thought has been the Jags as the only team interested other than the Jets was the Jags last off season and the Jags have just devalued the Jets market for a possible Tebow trade by overtly discussing a player under contract to another team. If the league doesn't pursue it, I suspect the NFLPA will.
This was blatant tampering. All they had to say was that they have no comment about other team's players and it eould also satisfy the fans, but they intentionally addressed a specific player in a way that clearly was intended to devalue the market.

Sexton is both Tebow & Ryan's agent. I still don't trust him as far as I could throw him.

I've never liked the idea of Tebow going to Jacksonville simply because he can 'sell tickets'. Hopefully in the long run this decision by the Jags is a positive thing for Tebow and he'll end up in a situation where his actual skill set is respected and valued more than his celebrity status. That said I can't help but feel we as football fans first are being robbed of witnessing something special.

Seriously ? That might be a toss-up. It's never just all numbers for me. Years back I quit a company to go to work for another company that paid less, for reasons other than money. Why would I have gone into the fitness training business if I wanted to make money ?

Head north, Tim Tebow. To the CFL. Unless a smart quarterback mentor like Mike McCarthy takes you on as a backup to an established starter, Canada is your best chance to do what you want to do, which is to become an every-down NFL starter.

You're right, probably not the best example. But one team laid out the cash and picks. The other talked a big game and sat his ass on the bench. But clearly the jags are the bad guys.

This is what I've been saying for a while now. He needs reps and work on mechanics. He's not going to get that being a gimmick or riding the pine.

It's not the mechanics. He can't read a defense and anticipate the patterns. Pretty low IQ guy in a position that requires aptitude. Look at his wonderlich. In college you can get by on athletic ability. Pro qb requires much more

I never said it was only mechanics; but that's a very key piece. It's not just IQ either, see Marino among others who had great success despite poor wonderlic. See a guy like Fitzpatrick great wonderlic but little success.
Tebow needs reps, needs work on mechanics. The reps will help his ability to read and anticipate, as will proper mechanics and footwork.

Tim has been the victim of his own fame, Elway's douche bag approach, and the lack of real opportunity than anything else. For anyone to say he sucks so bad he didn't deserve a chance is nuts IMO.
The new Jags GM may have pleased Tebow haters, but he came off as a total prick to me.
Count me as one of huge numbers of folks who would have been behind that crap organization had they landed Tebow. Instead they have acted like arrogant fools and I expect they will continue to suck for some time to come.
I want Tim to get a fair shot. He's a proven winner, (yes even in the NFL), and anyone who'd like to argue with that needs to look at his stats and record from pee wee league to pros before opening their mouth and showing their ass.
The Jags suck and will continue to do so. They just proved they are as stupid as their record is poor.

Oh, I almost forgot, all that crap about Tim having a choice in where Denver traded him is BS as far as I'm concerned because I saw an interview where Tim's own words indicated he was not given any input or control over the deal. That make it the truth for me...period.
Who has earned the respect for their integrity more than Tebow?
Certainly not the front office of any NFL franchise that ever existed.
