Witnesses told officers that Rainey and the victim got into an argument over Rainey’s cellphone. The female victim entered the vehicle of Rainey’s roommate, and Rainey confronted her on the passenger side of the vehicle, and began pulling her out of the vehicle.

Witnesses then observed Rainey slap the victim across the face with an open hand. Both Rainey and the female victim then fell to the ground. The victim was able to run away, but Rainey chased after her because his cellphone was in a bag the victim was carrying. Rainey grabbed the bag again, and they both fell to the ground again. Neither party suffered visible injuries from the encounter. Multiple witnesses confirmed the incident.

I just posted on the BCSCG video thread about the proper culture we should encourage and insist on from our players both on and off the field - but especially during a game.

Then we see this.

I know the majority of our student athletes are good kids.

But we have to work on making this character development a top priority going forward.

I hope our coaching staff can make this happen.

But the real summary is Rainey is a POS, as mentioned above. There's no need to hit or threaten a woman because you're having relationship issues.

He doesn't appear to have run into trouble anywhere else. It's the combination of Chris Rainey, cellphones, women, and Gainesville.

I do not condone his actions by any means, but compared to the last incident, this should be considered very minor. And open-hand slap and, according to the report, her having no visible injuries, is probably going to get thrown out. He needs to get some help though.

I would be surprised if charges go anywhere serious if they're based on an open-handed slap with no injuries and the altercation resulted from him trying to get his cell phone back from the victim.

Pulling her out of the car, chasing after her? Falling down multiple times?

I don't think we need to look at it based on past incidents.

Seems like a silly thing to say.

Its the slap on the wrist that he got last time that probably made his think this behavior was acceptable.
