Of ESPN, apology, Musburger, Ms Alabama and white hot women
If you watched the Kansas State and Alabama BCS bowl games you would have realized that ESPN cameras constantly zoomed onto Klein's wife and AJ's girlfriend A LOT during the broadcast. I kept asking myself why the cameras always zoom into the faces of these "pretty, hot white women". To date, I don't know why.
Following the the now famous Musburger slobbering over Ms Alabama incident on Monday, ESPN apologized for his actions. I found this to be stupid. First of all, Musburger didn't say anything inappropriate, he paid compliments to the beautiful lady. Secondly, why is it OK for ESPN cameras to constantly zoom into these women all the time. What are the announcers supposed to say every time cameras zoom onto the bodies and faces of these attractive women? Should ESPN also apologize for the way the cameramen and producers' behaviour as well? After all, they are the perverts who think its important to focus on these women.
Finally, even Katherine Webb and her parents didn't see anything wrong with what Musburger said.

The problem is objectification.
They were being shown only because they are "hot looking" with no consideration of the person behind the face. The lesson is become a star athlete and get trophy girlfriend.
Nothing to do with the quality of the person and the importance of something more than good looks in a relationship.
Edit: added the following:
Katherine and her family see nothing wrong with it because that is the world they have chosen...beauty contests and evaluation by appearance rather than substance.
That is no different that the pageant moms and dance moms who dress up their pre-teens to look like harlots and derive some vicarious pleasure from the participation.

So who is more to blame: producer, cameraman, ESPN or Brent? If Brent is to blame, then ESPN needs to censure itself first.

The camera folk just showed the lady. It was Musburger's comments that made it way over the top.
He should have simply said something like, "Aj mccarrons girlfriend, an Auburn student and the reigning Miss Alabama, is taking great interest in each play."
Showing the cheerleaders is different because they are there as part of the "show". Still, how often do you hear the commentators commenting on the cheerleaders when they are on screen? Not much.

Respect your point of view, but I am going to disagree. Musburger just said what most people were thinking anyways

When you're rich and powerful you can just get other people to apologize for you and then move on.

What ? You have got to be kidding me. TV goes moral all of a sudden ? I laugh out loud.
Is it a sudden epiphany that we have been programmed to believe that sex sells in everything, including football ? And that TV will pander to the audience on the most basic level ?
Maybe you guys have missed something.

I'm sorry, is there a problem with pointing out a hot woman? Why do we need to blame someone for something that is so harmless? We are in an age when smuts have reality shows and you have a concern about this?

Brent is there to fill air time. ESPN didn't show the woman once, not twice, but on numerous occasions throughout the evening just in case you missed Miss Hottie 2013 the first time. On one of the occasions Brent slobbers all over himself but in a kind of cute senile old man sort of way.
GOTCHA!!!!!

While I somewhat agree with the analysis, they did show Teddy Bridgewater's mom and girlfriend on TV during the Sugar Bowl. Not the same level of objectification from the announcers, but that may be because it wasn't a pervy POS like Brent Musberger doing the game. However, I still remember the almost endless reminders that "AJ Hawk is dating Brady Quinns sister" from TV announcers several years ago. In general, I do think there is some "preference" for whiteness when it comes to TV stories and coverage of attractive young women - see Natalie Holloway.

the producer is the one who picked which camera to bring up so blame him...showing hot women during a football beatdown seems to be SOP for many producers though, got to give the audience something to focus on

This is a hell of a lot of national conversation about nothing. Anybody know who played?
A sign of the times when something so small takes up the national spotlight.
She has already been on national tv, just for Mushberger's comments. What a country.

I assume the above pics are of McCarron's mom. Like most of the so-called stars in the media, Musberger became irrlevant an a colossal bore decades ago.

First - my wife. She's easy on the eyes.
Second, and related to the matter at hand here - McCarron's gal.
All isn't lost with Lulu, though. Junior thinks she's smokin'. And that's all that matters.
