The better matchup.
I get that ND was undefeated etc but we would have seen 2 better bowl games, I am convinced, if it were Alabama / Oregon and Noter Dame / Kansas State.

This game needed to happen....ND got too much ink and there was way too much mythology surrounding Te'o. That bubble had to burst and I'm glad it happened on the biggest stage for all to see. Call it purification by humiliation.

I'm far from a Notre Dame hater...but the team I saw last night was not even top 10 calibre. K.State beats them like a drum.

I watched that day of college football with some ND friends where K-State and Oregon both lost within minutes of each other.
I told them they may have gotten one loss too many.

Be careful for what you ask for. Bama's D is not like Tennessee's or FSU's. Bama's D would drag the Gator's O. Gator D good match up with Bama.

It was meant as a joke, see the following post.
However, LSU (25-36 for 296), TAMU (24-31 for 253) and UGA (19-34 for 281) all played Bama close by throwing the ball. Could the Gators' 114th ranked pass offense get cranked up against the Tide? Don't know. Couldn't keep UL off Driskel, think they would have faired better against Saban's D? Don't know. Guess it was possible but unlikely IMO.
And without Te'o clogging up the middle and intercepting anything thrown his way you guys would have been screwed...

Gotcha. I didn't see your second post.
I think the motivation level and focus would have been far different for the Gators in an MNC game compared to a seemingly meaningless game vs. Louisville in the Sugar Bowl. It was very important to UL, but not to UF. Remember Alabama vs. Utah after the 2008 season? Whether the Gators were able to do this or that vs. Louisville is a different dynamic than what would have happened in a title game. These kids aren't robots.....they play far differently from week to week, circumstance to circumstance. I think Bama would very likely have won vs. UF, but that it would have been far more competitive than Tide vs. Irish.
