Tennessee players volunteer to enter the draft
Bray, plus two of their top receivers and a DE opt for the draft. This sets UToothless even farther behind.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Topflight Tennessee receivers Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson, along with quarterback Tyler Bray and defensive end Darrington Sentimore, are bypassing their senior seasons to enter the NFL draft.
Bray threw for 3,612 yards and 34 touchdowns this season to rank second on Tennessee's single-season list in both categories, behind Peyton Manning's 3,819 yards and 36 touchdown passes in 1997. Bray also threw 12 interceptions.

I get the impression that Vandy will own them for years to come.

It was all expected except for Sentimore who is academically ineligible now anyway and won't be drafted. It really doesn't set us back as nothing was going to happen with next year's team anyway. It is funny to note that we did not have any early entrees from the '98 national championship team but have four from a 5-7 team. I still bet we are better next year with the new staff.

Without Bray or at least a proven qb, I don't see how you can be better.

They have Nathan Peterman, who was recruited by Butch Jones at Cincy, and he is capable of running the spread offense. But I don't know how effective he will be especially with no college experience.

Maybe we could get out of Sunseri's 3-4 defense that allowed 458 yards and 38 points per game? Maybe we can run the ball better? Maybe we won't have Tyler's three turnovers per game? Maybe we still suck but can beat Vandy as they lose a lot including Rogers and Stacey and we have them at home? A modest goal but we are doing baby steps here.

He goes to a local school here. I didn't know that. That said.....they don't really run the spread offense at his school. He is still pretty good though.

Hang in there. As much as I bleed orange and blue the Tennessee struggle is hard to watch. Good school, good facilities. Wish you guys well (except against the Gators of course).

If Jones is any good there will be tons of attrition. How's recruiting going?

I hear ya man. I was only referring to a new staff with a new qb usually does not mean a better team. But then again....A&M did it, why can't the Vols do it too.

I'm not trying to hate on UT. Lord knows they have enough issues.
But they are going to royally suck next year. I need to look at their schedule but we may be talking 2 wins. James Franklin is licking his chops.

Why? They don't have Johnny Football.

Too bad Sunseri left UT. I wish we still played against his defenses. I will surely miss him.

Sunseri is now FSU's D-line coach. So it's a win either way you look at it! It's gonna be like running thru butter for our backs

Can't say I give a darn about UT struggling. They will forever bear my ire for being the impetus behind the movement to strip UF of its SEC title back in 1984. An unprecedented maneuver that has never been attempted before or since.
So....yeah screw UT.
Besides, any team stupid enough to hire Lane Kiffin deserves exactly what they get.

I actually feel for jagervol01 a bit. It begs the question though. Will UT fans flood this board like they always do and tell us how bad they will beat us yet again during game week leading up to our matchup? I think finally they will not. I think.

Poor, naive UFreak.
UT could be shut down for a year, the team - comprised of a makeshift, rag tag gang of physically handicapped chimpanzees - could be temporarily coached by a young blind girl in Guatamala using a basketball instead of a football and the usual UT fans would still come here letting us know that the Vols were back.
