Ranking an FSU team ahead of UF after Florida crushed them, not to mention UF played the NCAA's #1 SOS and FSU played the weakest schedule in the top ten?
What a joke.

We have a great team. Very excited for next year. Hey, 9th-not too shabby. A tad disrespected. Nothing a better season next year can't fix.

The coaches poll is just a disaster. Behind 3 teams that we beat.

So? You can't always be ahead of every team you beat and you can't always be behind every team you lose to. That's not how it works.
The fact is we ended up as a slightly above average SEC team that is being made fun of across the nation. Terrible way to end the year. At the end of the day we moderately beat expectations, but gained tremendous experience doing so...and lost a lot of underclassmen talent doing so.
The Sugar Bowl loss won't impact next year but it did tarnish this year. Instead of it being a great year where we came up just short it'll be remembered as a slightly above middle of the pack SEC year that beat FSU...not bad but eh.

You cast a gloomy light. I would say that we definitely exceeded expectations. Not many saw this team as a top 10 team at the beginning of the season. This was a very good year, but not a great year by UF standards. Still, it is a top 10 finish. We did end up technically a little better than the middle of the pack in the SEC if you are measuring it by the final polls. However, we did beat three teams in the top 10. And, of course, being the fifth highest ranked team in the SEC means that you are no less than the 10th best team in the country. So the rankings don't tell the whole story.
This was a good year with a bitter finish.

Agree. The Gators won four games against top 15 teams and weren't rewarded for it, finishing behind two ACC teams who played cupcakes all year and finished with the same record as the Gators. Might as well load up on cupcakes in the future.

Perhaps I'm a bit too negative, and a part of that is I'm comparing us to our elite peers. So an average year in that regard is still damn good for everyone else.
We started the year in the low 20's, finished 9th and 10th with some coin flips going our way. Exceeded expectations, yes, but not by a ton.
But that also goes to show that the margin is razor thin, especially amongst the top of the SEC. A little better QB play, a little more luck vs UGA, and we could be lifting the crystal. A little less luck in a few games and we could have been mailing it in at the Tax Slayer Gator Bowl vs Northwestern.

Well it's all about finishing strong. The polls have always been a weird distorted combination of resumes, rank order by losses, and a power poll. We got crushed in our last game by a huge dog. The folks the weigh the power poll mentality probably hammered us in these polls.

we looked like the weakest bowl team in the top ten. IMO, that's why we dropped so far

This, I'd like to be ahead of FSU and USCe, but we're ahead of a Louisville team that dominated us just as thoroughly as we dominated FSU.

Don't they release who each coach voted for? I remember a spat, I think with with Spurrier, one time developing over this.

I get being behind teams with a better record that we beat, or even teams with the same record like tamu but no way should we be behind USC. Bogus.

Not the Coaches Poll. We finished 10th, behind FSU.

Huh! So more coaches think FSU is better than us, presumably because of the bowl games rather than considering a whole season of performance, including the kicking we gave them in their own stadium? Interesting!

We'd be No. 3 more precisely. Maybe 2 but probably 3.
