Huge news! I think he listened to the coaches. Not so much with Jelani.

It's the Jenkins story, but in the very bottom of it, it states that Easley told the coaches he was staying. Good news

And Jenkins is gone. Another head-scratcher. But Easley is great news.

This is big news. We really needed him to stay. Losing Hunter, Floyd and Easley would have been pretty tough. This gives us a nice boost. This is very big. I really hope that Easley tries to put on some weight this offseason. He needs to find a position for the NFL.

Keeping Easley??? Awesome! I feel like this year he should be closer to 100% and with him, Powell, Fowler, and Bullard we have a nice core up front. LB we have a lot of talent but it's still going to be a bit of a question mark.

Agreed. We should be very tough up front. Throw in Jacobs and Orr and I'm starting to feel pretty good about the D-Line for this fall.

The nice thing about our losses, looking at the bright side, is that we didn't have a position decimated.
It was even across the board and we have some big time youngsters that can step in and step up.

Yup, if Easley would have left, I think we could have used the word decimated at DT. But with him staying, I feel MUCH better.
We are going to be very tough defensively next year. It would be nice if someone like Orr could make a significant leap from last year to next year. He was a good player for us this past year. Would love to see him take the next step, that would be huge for us.

I was hoping we would keep Easley. I can live with the other departures.
One of the benefits of some of these departures is the early opportunities they create and when you look at our commitment list, it tells the story.
I'm excited about next year, because I think we'll be better on offense and our defense will be fine. This year's recruiting class will have more than a couple of big time contributors too.

I am shocked at the little amount of attention this thread is receiving. This is big news.

If Jenkins will just come to his senses and stay another year, we will be looking good defensively.

I'd have to disagree... We lost both starting safety's, and the primary back up.
We lost the NG and the back up NG, although the Orr and Jacobs got a lot of playing time this year..
and we lost 2 of the 3 starting LBs.
Safety is decimated, but every level of the defense is taking a hit. I'd expect the only position that will be better next year is DE and CB, but the entire middle of our defense from the line to the backs is a concern.

Hopefully, Easley looked across the line and saw what Floyd's year did for his draft prospects. Easley could easily have a similar impact at DT next year and also be drafted in the top 30. If he can put it together for a full season, he will be a monster.

The 04's all returning in B-ball was big news, great news in fact. This is more of a "Dear God, please stop the bleeding" kind of good news, and not "Awesome, we're only losing 2 players early!" news.
Our 2 best defensive players, our leading receiver, and one of our best LB'ers leaving early sucks, especially when there's maybe one 1st-rounder in the group. Oh well, they were all Urb's recruits so hopefully 'Champs kids will be a little more loyal (although we've lost a bunch of kids from his 1st class too). Yay us.

For the record (because this is often mentioned), the 04s returned for their junior seasons, and still left early skipping their senior seasons. It should be noted.
