I doubt it, if his mother had so much say he wouldn't have ever come to Florida, he wanted to be a Gator.
I'm not saying the coaches won't have an open competition, though I don't think they will, he may just not fit in to what they want, a QB who runs a lot.

I wasn't stating it as an opinion but as what actually took place. His mother was upset, that in her opinion, he didn't get a fair shot.
Muschamp and Pease are not looking for a QB that runs: it just so happens Driskel does that and its need right now with our oline.

Agree. There were probably a couple games JB would have played better than JD but staff made a decision and stuck with it. What can you say? We'll see how it goes. I'm happy Jacoby came but has enough confidence to move on and see what he can do.

Are you so selfish that you would relegate him to mop up duty? It's not like he shot the President.

Your point doesn't take away from mine. He's leaving thus meaning he's not going to be a Gator player anymore. I can't sit here and say I don't blame him for leaving because there was/is going to be an open competition in the spring. I don't dislike the kid. Now had he actually shot the.....never mind

He was given every opportunity in practice.

I remember the 'competition' supposedly being opened up through the Bowling Green game. If so, I understand why he left. Driskell got 16 passing attempts, JB got 5. Not to mention from where I watched the game, JB got unfortunately worse offensive line protection when he was in the game. Wish absolutely nothing but the best for a kid who clearly handled this situation with class throughout the year.

I think open QB competition for this off season is the worse thing anyone can want... You need to stick with a QB and let him get in sync with receivers, and go through progressions of a new offensive system. Look JB is great I wish him absolutely they best but we need to pick one an stick with him so they can all mold together... It's how football works, opening up competition again would make more of a mess come game time next season... You let driskel try to ride this wave for next season, he can throw, and he can run... One thing he needs to be better at is pocket presence and awareness, but that all comes in due time guys. Let him work in this system that is relatively new still for an off season with the WR's he has. Last time you had 2 QB taking some reps and that did not work out. And if he doesn't learn next year than you got Will Grier coming in the following year..

Driskel has played for two coordinators in two years. No matter how similar the two offenses are there has to be a learning curve.Everyone knew JD was a very talented project coming out of HS and he still is.I wonder how he would have looked with a line as talented as A&M up front.Too many variables this season for me.

Right? If he had a consistent line along with a group of talented WR's in sure his season would of been a different story...

Louisville and we see him in the future, Uggggggghhhhhh
Hate that he is leaving, I also have a bad feeling he is going to do good things with the right coordinator/program.

Prolly believes in himself just fine. More likely he is tired of seeing Driskel struggle and still remain planted to the bench.
If Muschamp blocks is transfer anywhere, I'd be disappointed. Jacoby has never been a problem. If he is not good enough to play for us, why would he be worried about where he went?
Best of luck Jacoby, looking forward to seeing you get a chance elsewhere.

other than the SEC, I would let him transfer anywhere.
He has been a good teammate and earned the right to go to scUM or USF, if he and his parents want him to stay instate.
That said, WVU or Kansas may be better opportunities for the young man.

WV simply because Weis got a JUCO transfer this year at QB he is highly sold on, so that being said I think it would be the same there as it is at Florida for Jacoby. After this year Geno Smith is gone, who better to come in right away and fill his spot.

Some of you make it sound like Tebow is transferring. Maybe I missed the games where JB looked like a future star. From everything I've seen JB is a good kid and teammate, but a very average QB. So average he couldn't beat another average QB in JD. But at least Jeff is big and can run which BTW won us a lot of games. Good luck to JB but I really doubt we will regret this as some are suggesting.

This is what I like to call the "Tim Tebow Response" because it's all I ever heard this year in the Jets defending their decision to not play TT. And IMO, here are the two obvious fallacies of that argument: 1) the practice is not the game; and 2) without knowing if CWM and his staff were predisposed to having Jeff start, we really don't know what opportunities, if any, were given.
I'm not saying I would've plugged JB in at any point during this season, because I can't think of a game where Jeff played so badly that I wanted him yanked. But watching the Bowling Green game, after both QBs were promised a quarter, I knew the coaches had already made their decision. Look at the plays called for Jeff and those called for JB. So count me on the side of those who don't think JB got a full and fair opportunity last offseason (and the beginning of this year) to be the starter.
