Kiffin left because for Manhattan Beach and based on his performance this season and the probation he left behind he isn't missed. Majors was fired for not getting along with the administration and screwing up the '92 season. Both he and Fulmer coached for 16 seasons and each had losing seasons prior to being fired. Majors first 6 seasons (77-82) were terrible. Tenn has remained in the top ten in attendance nationally since 2005 despite 5 losing seasons since then. Not many schools have that kind of unconditional support. Louisville does not have that kind of support even in success.

Charlie Strong is a great coach, he's proving that and Louisville beat us fair and square in the Sugar Bowl but c'mon lets not assume too much after that one game okay? Will has NFL type asts. , a program starting on year three and lots and lots of talent. And an epic class coming in, along with a starting QB with some experience.
I don't give a damn if Charlie was at Tenn or not. Just like I don't care if Dan Mullen beat us IN THE SWAMP. One game, anything can happen. We got beat by the better team that night, and hunger played a huge role in it. But i'm not scared of anyone, anywhere now that the ball is rolling at UF and we are building depth, consistency and this train is going to keep on rolling. Doesn't mean we won't lose some every now and then, we naturally will but this program is exactly where fans and Foley and Muschamp hoped it would be heading into Will's third season.

That's a little misleading. It's true that Louisville hadn't been very good the 2 or 3 years right before Charley Strong took over. But they had some very good teams before that time. Howard Schnelenberger (sp?) started them on their rise. He had a 10-1 or so team before he left in the early 1990s, then came John L. Smith and Bobby Petrino who also had some excellent teams with several seasons of 11-2 or 10-3. As recently as 2006 Louisville went 12-1 and won their Orange Bowl game under Petrino or Smith.
Charley Strong had the great good fortune not to follow Smith and Petrino, he followed a couple other guys whose names I don't remember who didn't do well at all. But Charley Strong is far from the first coach to put Louisville on the football map, Howard Scnhelenberger, Bobby Petrino, and Smith did that long before Charley's time.

The Vols should be in the ACC. They will continue to run coaches in and out after a few years like Dooley.

If Charlie gets a chance at a good Arky team he will leave to coach them.
That's his home and he has proven he can get to recruits.
He's a great coach and has a lot of pull.\
But Thank God and whoever else that he isnt at UT

The Vols have still only had 10 head coaches since 1926 as long as you don't count the interim coaches during Gen. Neyland's military service (Neyland '26-'52, Robinson '53-'54, Wyatt '55-'62, McDonald '63, Dickey '64-'69, Battle '70-76, Majors '77-'92, Fulmer '93-'08, Kiffin '09, Dooley '10-'12, Jones '13-?) LSU has had 7 head coaches just since 1980 and Alabama has had 8 since 1980 (not even including Mike Price) by comparison. 10 coaches in 86 years is not bad imo.

It's a little early to make bold pronouncements of two or three year guys being "great" head coaches.
After 2010, a lot of people thought Gene Chizik was the sh@# and you see where that went.

It wasn't too long ago there was a heated debated on Gatorcountry..
Was UF's defense Strongs or Zooks? Did our D suck big-time because of Strong or Zook?
