Miami game Sept 7th.
From an outsider's perspective, it looks we should roll them but looking at this match-up closely, I think we're in for hot humid war in So Fla that day. The canes will have 20 starters back including the QB morris who through for over 3,400 yards and 3 freshman all americans in RB Duke Johnson, DB Deon Bush and LB Eddie Johnson . This will be no walk in the park. Also, as for Miami's sanctions, there is no guarantee they'll be in place by next fall. They have yet to receive their notice of allegations. Their hearing with the NCAA probably won't take place until next fall. So, it is very unlikely sanctions affect the 2013 canes.
This will be a very big test very early in the season like TAMU this year. Getting out of Miami alive could springboard us into a great season.
Early Thoughts on the Match-up?

I expect a dogfight and won't be shocked if we lose.

it will be a dogfight. if we allow morris as much time as bridgewater, then we can expect the same result. he is a good qb when given time. unless there is a drastic change in our offense any team we play with a good passing qb will be a problem.

I think the two hardest games of the year are probably Miami and USC if Murray leaves as crazy as that seems. We just have to beat them up in the trenches which we should be able to do.
This is also another reasons I dont think the staff even has a open QB competition the team has to be ready to go game 2.

We're really gonna need the WRs to show up for the MIA game....let's not forget they have a pretty good secondary with Deon Bush and Tracy Howard.

1. Miami will bring it, so we better be ready for their best shot
2. if we play like we did against the ville, we lose this one in embarrasing fashion
3 after the sugar bowl performance we do not deserve to be favored over anyone, need to approach it like we are heavy dogs trying to spring the upset. (instead of a collosal gag job as heavy favorites)

That's a very good point'
Louisville had something like 34 players from the South Florida area. I think Bridgewater played at
Miami Northwestern HS. Coach Strong has done an excellent job recruiting in South Florida.

Signing Bridgewater is the key to Charley's success. Without him I think the Gators beat Louisville even with all the screwups.

Aside from the MLB from Cincinnati, every player for Louisville who made big plays was from Florida with most being from South Florida. We saw 1st hand in the Sugar Bowl how explosive players from So Fla can be.

Sadly Florida never plays well in their 1st game no matter who the opponent is. I remember under Spurrier Florida looked pretty sharp a few times though in their season opener.
With that said, I'd rather be playing Miami in the 3rd game especially replacing some key players off our defense.

Fortunately we open with Toledo before Miami. Hope we can show up against the mighty rockets...

It's a good thing we are playing Toledo in the season opener then. The next 9 game stretch is pretty brutal.

The Louisville game was almost certainly a wake up call that will get us to take scUM more seriously.
Even so, it will probably be tough, with all the starters they have returning.
