The Major Flaw w/ the Bama Comparison and our Offense
I don't really care much about meaningless bowl games if it's not the MNC. Our fans didn't seem to either - showing up 7,000 strong. Our coach didn't seem to either - as he didn't have his typical fieriness. And obviously our team didn't.
So while last night was embarrassing, it didn't make or break our season. We need to improve or maintain next year and not take a step back - especially in the weak East.
I keep reading this Bama comparison. Here's a major difference:
Their offensive roster was loaded going into the following year.
Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, Marquis Maze were just freshmen when they lost to Utah. Greg McElroy was ready to take over for John Parker Wilson. Barrett Jones, and their O-line was coming into form.
Their defense had a big time leader like Rolando McClain returning, who was just a sophomore at the time.
I don't think we have the next Julio Jones, Mark Ingram or Trent Richardson on the roster. And judging by our O-line play, I don't think it's rounding into shape.
We lose Gillislee and Reed - our top weapons. We better have some serious recruits coming in because our offense is a major concern moving forward.
