In college football, the qb is absolutely off limits to any hits after the ball is in the air. You can argue that it was more of a late hit, but in college football a late hit on a qb is roughing the passer. Blame FSU for creating that rule in the 90s with their 100 late hits on the qb including 27 hits on Danny the year we won our first NC.
