It was and should have been called. Take off the glasses. In today's game that is a penalty. After the qb releases the ball the defender must pull up. Bostic ran right through him with some forearm shiv to boot. Dumb play.
I will agree that it was a beautiful hit, but in today's game completely illegal.
My question is why Bridgewater was in on the next play?
Aaahhhhaaa!! I asked the same thing!!!! His helmet was off?!????

Because of the penalty. Had it not been called, TB would have had to sit out one play.

Umm, how exactly would Bostic have "pulled up" after the QB released the ball there? Hes at full speed and hes 1 step away from the QB upon release? The dude doesnt have an E-break.
Wrong. If the qb fakes that throw and tries to take off, I sure hope my linebacker isn't pulling up. He threw and got hit, there was one step, couldn't have pulled up. And shouldn't have.
That was a terrible call. Bostic never leads with his feet, doesn't really come in contact with his head, led with his shoulder, and didn't really have a step to give.
Horrible, horrible call. I understand protecting QB's...but Bostic did not lead with his helmet, didn't hit TB's helmet, didn't take more than a single step, nor picked him up & drove him to the ground. Horrible.
He leaned into the hit and gave a forearm shiv under the qbs chin. Instead of attempting to pull up he decided to put a lick on him. Been there done that. It's a penalty.
If it was Devin Bush whacking Danny W. would you feel the same way?

Completely untrue statement. His forearm never got above the QBs numbers. Luckily, there is a gif on page 1 of this thread that shows the hit in slow motion. I am not even sure Bostic makes any contact with the QBs head. If he did, it is purely incidental. Clean hit.
That was a bad call. The refs sucked last night. We were at the hotel after the game with my little bro and we heard some of the on field crap that the refs were giving them. Bostic was over with us. He had a couple of great stories.
I know we got out played & coached but the officiating sucked too. They are supposed to be unbiased but I think there was an agenda to make the BCS seem as if they got it right by shutting out OU and others. That didn't lose the game for them but it hurts. JMO
Exactly. There was no forearm shiver. Sheesh! It was a clean hit.
The Elam hit a few plays later however....I wonder how that wasn't flagged!
LoL, forearm shiver. Ive never seen that one called. Is it illegal? Then again Ive never heard a penalty for "being in the white". Just a part of being a Gator fan I guess.
Elams hit was not late. The guy was still juggling the ball.

That play happened so fast, there was no time at all for him to pull up. And he did not give a forearm shiver under TB's chin either. So stop trying to make something out of nothing.

Any stories you can share? I agree the refs were pretty awful all game.
Clean Hit, more ref BS, gave them a 1rst down on 3rd and 15. Otherwise the field gets flipped and UL does not go up 14-0, put UF in a hole from the first start.
