We won't end up #11. The computers still love us. We will end up #6 or 7 at the lowest.

UL won the toss and deferred. The refs did seem to go a little out of the way asking if we wanted to receive the kick. Reminded me of that disaster against reFSU years ago when they deferred and some genius decided we wanted to kick the ball. Yep, reFSU got 2 opening kickoffs...

Bowl games aren't going away even if there is a (four team) playoff.

I dont think so. That UL team has a great qb, good players on both sides and they are very well coached.

hopefully they get to a bigger playoff where the games matter for the 12 or 16 teams. then, the other teams can have a lesser bowl to make them happy

Exactly! Winning the Sugar Bowl used to mean you may have still had a shot at a championship, you still had something to play for. What exactly did we have to gain by a win? We will still be ranked in or near the top 10 with an 11-2 record...is that really that much worse than 12-1 and #2? Nobody remembers who came in second, only who came in first. What exactly did FSU gain by winning the Orange Bowl against NIU? We had nothing to prove by beating Louisville but they had everything to prove by beating us. Until the major bowls are tied into a playoff, it will remain the same.

And, I would rather have the "winners trophy" than the "participant" trophy, and day of the week. If this is the standard, then EVERY bowl game (other than the BCSCG is meaningless). Hell, I would say the "season" is meaningless for any team with 2 losses mid way through the season who have NO shot at it. Why keep playing the season then? Only ONE team is going to "win it all". So, in my opinion, make the most of what you have or can achieve, that is all I am saying.

That's what he's saying. Would it have been nice to win? Absolutely. Does it matter that we lost? Absolutely not. It has no baring on next season, not even preseason polls (which we will most certainly be ranked in at least the top 10), and it changes little about this season. No one remembers who came in 2nd in a season or 12th or 21st. Unless you win it all it doesn't matter. Is it nice to win your bowl game at the end of year? Yeah it is, but it's not the end of the world if you don't.

Excellent point! That woodshed beating was MUCH worse than this. And winning that one meant something. I agree. Chill the F&@$ out people.

I forgot about our Michigan game in 2007. I believe we had a decent season the next year.

That's what coaches are for, to make sure it doesn't happen. Unfortunately, no one is coaching the coaches.
