Unbelievable talent. He is the kind of player which makes the game very fun to watch. I will be happy when we can follow him in the NFL.

Does he really need another year in college? I know it goes against the competitive nature of every athlete but I'd be tempted to just sit out the year and wait for the draft next year, its not like he would fall more than a spot or two, if at all

I agree. He's definitely ready for the NFL.

It was a fantastic hit, but really it was the timing of the hit that made it so great.

Must stay. You have to play, not just be, in college three years. Heard that somewhere during the game. Maybe someone else can explain better.

No "may be" or "one of" for me. It's the best I've seen because of the way the runner's helmet flew like ten yards down-field. Too bad the ball wasn't in it, it would have been a first down.
I've seen hits about as hard - e.g. Spikes on Moreno - but don't remember one where the helmet came off like that.

That isn't true. You have to be three years removed from high school.

Clowney started as a true frosh so he only has two years of any kind. If he had redshirted one year and this was his third year, he could go.
It is three years only, even if you ride the pine, your time is over after the third year to be eligible for the draft.

It's three years even if you never play a down of college football or even go to college.

The most amazing thing is how fast he got to the running back once he cleared the line of scrimmage. I don't know if I've ever seen a guy that size move that fast.

Yes, the NFL doesn't want to take on the liability of having permanently injured people who try for their dream before they are physically ready. The last person to fight it was Maurice Clarett after his freshman season. After the delays in the trial through motions and stuff he was eligible and the challenge magically went away. But yes, he is ready this year to move on. I just hope he doesn't play not to get hurt in his last year. And I don't doubt that he will have a BIG insurance policy next year.

Exactly!!! It was almost like he said " OK! Looks like we have to do it our way!" Then to watch him crush the rb and then reach over and pick the ball up like a loaf of bread.

Clowney was ready for the NFL right out of high school.
There aren't many but he is an unusual athlete. Hershel was one who could have played on Sunday right out of HS.
They physically developed quicker than everyone else.

He'll make more in one year in the NFL than he would in a lifetime at a normal degree job.
Of course, he needs to know how to save... unfortunately they don't teach that to our kids in college.
