Prather over Yeguette
This is just my opinion obviously but I think that Prather should be our first "big" off the bench instead of Yeguette...Yeguette seems to be MIA this year....Prather scored at least 10 today and I don't recall Yeguette scoring at all....and it just seems like he has had a very quiet year, both scoring and rebounding...what do u guys think?

There is an odd twist to this, in the second half SW played the point and KB the 2. KB exploded as did the team, so if Billy wants to take that route going forward, then you also have MR in the mix for the last starting spot because Young and Murph are locks. Might depend on who we are playing.

It's funny you mention this...my buddy and I were talking about Rosario and while we both like him, we both agree that he just makes too many bad decisions to merit a starting role...my buddy thinks that Frazier should be our starting 3 and MR would be first guard off the bench...but I really don't see BD starting a freshman over a 5th year senior...

Defense and rebounding place Yegs ahead of Prather. The nice thing about these past two years is that we finally have a bench deep enough to discuss these kinds of issues. And Yegs has shown tremendous improvement on the offensive end, esp with dribble drives.

Yegeutte was so dominating last year before his injury at the point of the press. don't know what's going on w/ him. almost looks like he's thinking too much out there on the court and that's making him a step slow.

BD is doing a perfect job managing the bench as he has done in the past. Casey and Will are coming along nicely and like our big energy guys off the bench in years' past will be huge in how far we go.
As for Rosario he has potential to become a more dangerous weapon. I'm happy with his progress. Frazier has been a pleasant surprise. A lot of poise. We'll see how he handles conference play. If he hits the freshman wall or not. Plenty of underclassmen have shined before SEC play starts and then faded in to the background.

It was only a few games ago that everyone was lauding WY.
He is slumping, but I think he is critical to this team and should have close to starter minutes.

I think we were better when WY, Young and Murphy started with KB at the 1 and Rosario at the 2. I don't like Rosario at the three and I don't like Scotty at the 1. Problem is we do not have enough depth at the 4 and 5 to have Wil, Murph and Young all on the court for too long

Wilbekin is only one close to a pg we have. Yeguette and boynton are imperative to the team's success, both need to play well. But I can see prather over rosario. Prather has much better d potential and probably drive/last possession o potential.

Let's look at the scoring and rebound stat line:
WY: 0 points 6 rebounds in 17 minutes of play
CP: 9 points 0 rebounds in 14 minutes of play
You also have to add in WYs defense as Davis noted earlier in the thread. I think at this point Will is the preferred starter but it was nice to see Casey get cranked up tonight. Bottom line is we need both of them.

On another note CP shot 4-5, all 2 pointers, while MR shot 2-6 with 1 being 3 pointer. Mike also logged 23 minutes of playing time.

Casey had several turnovers tonight too in relatively limited minutes. If you are going to talk about the good you have to bring up the downside too.

And to expand this for the entire season:
WY-In 10 games played at 25.3 mpg, he averages 6.7 pts and 6.3 rebs..
CP-In only 6 games played and at only 13.5 mpg, he averages 5.7 pts and 3 rebs...
So based off that, Prather has almost matched WY's ppg in half the minutes played...if Prather got Yeguette's minutes, he would average more points and roughly the same number of rebounds..
WY is also averaging 1 more TO per game than CP...and CP shoots better from the FT line...
I agree we need both to be successful but I just think Prather has done more this year to earn the first off the bench spot...

I think the point is rosario should be off the bench, regardless of WY or CP being in his place.

I get what you're saying but the title of the thread is Prather over Yeguette

Yeguette has has a rough couple of games. But not a bad year. He was killing it just a month ago.
IT is nice to see Casey get more in the mix but a long way away from taking WY's spot.

Interesting, was pretty certain I saw two, one he got a turnover right back(maybe they didn't count that one) and the other he blocked the shot on the runout.

UF has 8 guys who contribute this year. All 8 will rarely have a good game on the same night. Yeguete has not played as well as earlier this year the last couple of games.
As we learned against KSU you need more than two of them playing well. Today Murphy, Young and Boynton all played well and Wilbekin and Prather played decently.
Yeguete is to me still best coming off the bench and as the first big off the bench. Part of this is he is a true if slightly undersized big. Prather is a very undersized big.
I hope Yeguete is not pouting about coming off the bench the last two games. He did start for most of the season until the last two games. Still eventually UF was going to necessarily go to the lineup is has now because of the lack of depth at the 4/5 not because of anything Yeguete did wrong.

I agree that we did play our best tonight when Rosario was on the bench.
that guy Fletcher (I think that was his name) was tooling Rosario all over on the defensive end.
disclaimer: I am a fan of Rosario
