Django
Went to see this with the wife and 21 year old son who is home from UF.
Good movie I was entertained. Tarantino pays homage to the Sergio Leone "Spaghetti Westerns" genre of the '60's and '70's.
Not for the sqeamish they must have bought the fake blood by the Semi Tanker load.
Jamie Foxx did a good job.

Heard one critic on the radio call it his favorite movie of 2012.

In my top three of current movies in release. Daughter insisted I wait for her to come home and see it with her. Same with Zero Dark Thirty and something else I forgot about. Probably Amour.
FWIW, here's the trailer for the Lone Ranger. Looks good.

Interesting cast. Johnny Depp as Tonto, with Gore Verbinski directing. Great director and a cool guy. Did a commercial in the early 90s which required months in post-production. Gore was posting a lengthy project in the same facility. Saw him every day for over month and hung out in the parking lot while his first AD and my partner took smoke breaks together. Had some great talks, though I don't remember pirates or cowboys coming up in any of our conversations. Glad he's doing well.

I found it cartoonish and far from any kind of historical reality and if it had a point I missed it entry. Not a big Tarantino fan though so that may be it.

I didn't really care for it. Didn't hate it - didn't like it. And I am a Tarantino fan.
I thought it was too long and the Jamie Foxx character unbelievable - sunglasses and rap music?
On the other hand, I loved the performances of Christolph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio (best actor out there in my opinion) and Samuel L. Jackson (and I am NOT a fan). Plus, I loved the actors with small parts:
- Don Johnson
- Tom Wopat
- Bruce Dern
- Lee Horsley

Funny. I thought Samuel Jackson was the one lowlight for me. His character reminded me of Jar Jar Binks. Super over the top annoying.
I wonder if Waltz gets another Oscar for this. I believe he got one for Inglorious Basterds

I can usually go either way with his flicks, but I loved this one! Most of the theater was laughing more than in most pure comedies. And I thought Jackson was hilarious.
